flint52 Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 Hello, i purchased a set of king pins from Robert Motor Parts and the notch is 1 1/4 lower than my other set. I called and they stated there is only one set of king pins, and they sent another set just to make sure i didnt get the wrong set. well same as the first set. any ideas? kinda stumped right now. my kingpin is on the bottom and the new on is on the top. Any help would be great. Thanks Ryan Quote
bamfordsgarage Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 I can't begin to explain the discrepancy, but you could correct it by grinding another notch. I believe all the load would be above or below both notches. Quote
flint52 Posted June 9, 2013 Author Report Posted June 9, 2013 thanks, forgot to mention its on a 50 meadowbrook. I though about getting the notch done on the new set, but was trying to figure out if theres a different set or something else im not thinking of. Dont even want to mention how long it took me to figure out the notches were different Quote
desoto1939 Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 So you would have a D34 dodge 1950 According to my McQuay Norris suspension catalog 1942-52 D22-24-30-34, 7 and 8 pass sedan, limo and estate wagon , 6cyl is their number KA-135 the 41-52 D19-22-24-33-41 except 7 pass sedan and station wagon 6 cyl is their number KA-16 Look in your parts book if you have one and let me know your Chrysler Mopar number and I can also x-ref the McQuay Number. This is why I have collected the various catalogs that I have available on CD so you guys can have the information at hand for your learning about your cars. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
captden29 Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 flint, it is very obvious that it is the wrong part. nice of Roberts to send another set, they are good people to do business with. the wrong part does not help you.there are many other vendors who may be a little more knowledgeable about what you need.try Mitchell motor parts, 706 337 4606. capt den Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 It seems to me like you could get answers to the dimensions from vendors by sending them a photo and measurements . Quote
Alshere59 Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 I have a spare set for a 1950 Plymouth marked KPK64. Pics attached. Purchased from Kanter. EDIT Kanters shows a KPK 342 for the Meadowbrook. So my spare set will not help it appears. The KPK64 shows for Wayfarer. Looking at Rich's post there are three if you include station wagon's limos etc. same as Kanters. Looking at Roberts they show one set for all years and models so looks like you need to try another vendor. For comparison my spare set. Quote
