Fernando Mendes Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Is it for dome light? Now I am planning the dome light circuit.I would like to know which correct(original) ROUTE of the wires.Where is the breaker?,in the dash or in the dome light? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 That is for attaching the center of the headliner. The dome light would go just above the rear window, attached to the headliner. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/825/dodgeforrotetobemfcil.jpg/ Yes.I have this pic showing. And don't you know where is the route of the wires? Thanks. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Tthe power supply wire routes up the A pillar and along the top of the door to the rear and over to the light. The light has a short ground wire to t he cab. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 Where is the ground place in the cab? Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 clips to the rear brace where the headliner snaps to. I plan on putting it near the top and running a screw thru an eylet and into the metal for good ground. The headliner will cover it all up. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 Ok.I will try.Thanks. Quote
Barry Maxwell Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Is it for dome light? Now I am planning the dome light circuit.I would like to know which correct(original) ROUTE of the wires.Where is the breaker?,in the dash or in the dome light I thought that bracket in the center of the roof was installed by the PO in connection with the many roof lights when he used the truck as a wrecker. Thus, I cut it off only to find out months later from someone on this Forum that it was a support for the headliner. BUMMER!! Now I will have to frabricate something that will work and figure out how to attach it without welding. I should have left well enough alone. Barry Quote
pflaming Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I am aware that the OE location is to the back, but that casts a shadow on one's lap. I will put my dome light on that bracket, just a better place. IMHO. Quote

ggdad1951 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Plus it would help hold up the headliner. Good idea. BUT it will make the headliner bow down in the middle as it will take up space where the headliner was supposed to be tight up against the bracket Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 BUT it will make the headliner bow down in the middle as it will take up space where the headliner was supposed to be tight up against the bracket Only if you put the light above the headliner. I was thinking about sandwiching the headliner between the dome light and the bracket. The light then supports the headliner up to the bracket. Quote
pflaming Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Headliner goes on first as per OE. I have a 5" oval aftermarket light which I like. I am putting a couple of floor lights in as well and a toggle switch OR I may put a spring loaded switch in the door post, it's easy to do. Quote

Merle Coggins Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I don't even have a light right now. How does an OEM light mount? Quote
ggdad1951 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 you cut a hole in the headliner and it mounts to the headliner. Quote
Desotodav Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Most of ours (in Oz) are a bit different to your trucks over there - our lights are mounted to the back of the headliner, and we have 4 brackets to secure the headliner to... Desotodav Quote

Fernando Mendes Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 The positive wire I connected in light switch and put a switch(on-off) on the dash connected in the body ground. Quote
