Don Jordan Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I have wanted one of these for a long time. Today it was installed. I hope I'm not too old to enjoy it. As a side note: It is a 2 car garage - when it's empty it looks huge. When you put 2 cars in it that sucker just shrinks right up. And what a chore to empty out the old garage with 10 years of accumulated parts and junk and rat turds. But it keeps me busy. 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 oh no...you left the door open and someone got your insulation and wall panel... it's a good feeling having a separate shop...other than putting your car on the lift for a try out, what is your first planned job with your new toy in your new building??? desoto1939 Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I am jeleous that you now have the two car detached garage with the lift. You can always send the entire building over to me anytime that you want to. Fill it up and enjoy. Rich HArtung Quote
pflaming Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 "One to die for?". Did you include a musseleum or did you score out an 8 x 5 rectangle in the middle? Quote
Don Jordan Posted March 29, 2013 Author Report Posted March 29, 2013 It is kind of ironic that my next project doesn't require a lift - I'm going to rewire the 47. I will use the lift to find and fix all the silly little oil leaks. I've spent so much time on my back looking up that once I get to more carefully explore the underside I'm sure I'll find a myriad of things to do. One cool thing is I can put the car on jack stands, pull the wheel and stand up to look at the brakes. I'm so excited about this whole adventure. Think of all the money you've spent sending your kid to college, orthodontia, remodeling the kitchen... Instead I got a garage with a lift. Quote
pflaming Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 How high is the ceiling? Did you have to put thicker concrete under the corner posts? Quote
Don Jordan Posted March 29, 2013 Author Report Posted March 29, 2013 I believe the ceiling is about 17'. The contractor beefed up the floor when he built it. It was an option to have them bolted or left free standing. I live in an earthquake area so I had them bolted. Quote
1941Rick Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 Be happy as long as you can............. Quote
Jim Shepard Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 Now I've got to figure out a way for my wife to see this photo without it looking too obvious... Quote
