Plymouthy Adams Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 again........I deleted my entire photo album from Photobucket due to the aggrivation their improved site created....I know I have links on the early section of this forum that are now broken but for the longest time I have chosen a direct uplink from my compter and now the pictures stay on this server..simplest way and works great...plus..the pictures are under your profile here when you wish to check the archives.. BobT-47P15 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) I looked thru their website......they seem to have made it pretty tough to get thru to them, either by phone or email. Found this number on the net....you might try it..... Photobucket, Inc. James Goss PO Box 13003 Denver, CO 80201 US Phone: +1.7203814095 Got this from another site..........A simple phone call might do the trick. You can call Photobucket's headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado by calling 1.720.560.2072. This might get you where you need to go. It is really aggravating when these companies make it nearly impossible to get in touch with them. My pages opened up in their "new and improved" format.....but you can click on the thing that says to stay with the old style and it will go back to that format. I know where things pretty much are on my pages in the old format. Sign of old age I guess. Edited January 5, 2013 by BobT-47P15 Quote
thrashingcows Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Yup the new and "improoved" site is crap!! I do not like it at all. One night it took me almost 2 hours to upload a few pics , and then get the codes to put the pics in the threads I was working on. The old site it might have taken me 30 min at most. I have selected the option to go back to the old format...but everytime I go back to the site it takes me to the "new" and I have to do it all over again. Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 It seems that Photobucket is not all about customer satisfaction. It seems that Photobucket has done it again. Changed the format for something that does not work for me. I sent them the following...Your old format was not broken. Why did you change? It used to take me 30 seconds to transfer a photo to another website. I have spent the past half hour attempting to transfer a photo with no success and it has locked my computer up and I had to slam. If you value me as a long term customer please switch back to the old format. Don Coatney I dislike the new layout! Danny posted this on November 24, 2012 04:18 pm inShare.0 We understand that a new site redesign can be a bit overwhelming. We've heard every reason for disliking the new website that people can think of. "Don't fix what isn't broken!", "Change for changes sake isn't good.", "I hate the new website!" etc. We've also heard some of the must vulgar and crude responses that you could think of. I won't be sharing those with you, as such sordid and boorish vocabulary has no business on a public forum, or directed at any person/persons. While you are welcome to comment on any posts within the forums, please refrain from using obscenities. We don't want to delete your comments or replies, but we will if they are offensive to anyone else. If you are experiencing any issues, want to provide feedback on a feature or the site, or have any questions, please write in a ticket to support. We do not want your ideas to be lost or overlooked, or for your questions to go unanswered. We would prefer it if you wrote in to support about any actual feedback you have on the site (obscenities are not feedback!). We can then share that with the rest of the company, and make changes to the site that you want to see. The new site is always changing, and that is because we're always listening to you, and want to be sure you're getting everything out of it that you could want or need. Your voice can help us make this site great, and turn that dislike into a fiery passion for the all new Photobucket! Quote
Mark D Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Morning Gents - I use a site called skydrive.com to store files and images that I want to access from remote computers. It also allow you to sync files with your PC if you wish. Once you've created an account there's a public folder included which allows for files you want to share with others via a URL. The site is free and allows 10gb storage. It's very easy to use once you do it a couple times. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Guess I haven't figured this out yet.......how can you store pics on your own home computer, then transfer one of them to the forum?? Someone needs to give a step by step explanation to someone like me who is somewhat computer challenged. (I can link them from P Bucket just fine... with the old format. Haven't tried messing with the new setup.) How about pics stored on a thumb drive? I've been thinking of putting pics on one of those. Otherwise, I have a certain amount stored just on my desktop that I can't seem to transfer. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Bob, use the GO ADVANCED button below the text box..then select the MANAGE ATTACHMENTS button ..in the new option box you can see the top choice is "Upload File from your Computer" click the BROWSE button and this will allow you to search your computer for the location of the picture you wish to upload...when you find your picture you can double click and it will select or if you single click you must select the load button at the bottom of the box..then all you do is hit the upload button on the manage attachement page...you can select 5 pictures per thread but draw back is you must repeat this process for each of the five pitcures one at a time..when you have your number of pictures uploaded..you can preview the page prior to submittal or just hit submit... NOTE...once the photo is loaded on the file management page you have options to remove the file should you decide anothe picture is more suited.. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 Thanks, Tim. I check that out for sure. Quote
randroid Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 Gents, URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is requested on this site and every site I've found from which I want to copy a picture or to which I want to post a picture. Cool, because now I don't need to bother trying to post a picture anywhere because I have literally spent hours trying to find a URL to any picture located on my computer and evidently none exists. No "http\\:www..." anything on this computer so far as any pictures are concerned regardless of how many slashes I put anywhere. I can recall a time when if I wanted to post a picture all I needed to do was post it, but things have been simplified to the point that I refuse to frustrate myself trying to do it any more. I've read many tutorials on how to do it and the first item always requested is the URL; forget it, it doesn't exist. If I need a picture of something I can find it and sorry I can't share one here. -Randy Quote
thrashingcows Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 To post up pictures on all on-line (internet) sites they need to first be uploaded to a hosting site. This was done for security reasons. Before when you could just link to your hard drive on your computer any nefarious individual could gain access to all your info on your computer. But now your pictures must be hosted on-line, Be it a third party like Photobucket, Skydive etc. or hosted by the website your are currently using....P15-D24. Once the pictures from your computer have been uploaded to the host site you need to get the URL. That is the on-line location for the picture(s). Most hosting sites will have several ways to share the picture...but to post the picture you generally will be looking for the "IMG" code. But you can post most on-line pictures by right clicking your mouse over the photo...then going to "properties" Then highlight and copy the "Address/URL". Then go to the forum in which you wish to post the picture...type out "" and then paste your copied location between the img codes. This will then put the picture in your post. Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 To the original question... Well over a week ago I requested a phone number from Photobucket stating that I would gladly discuss my concerns with one of there thecnical support folks. To date they have not responded. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 for giggles I went to my account just now, logged in, no pictures..did a test upload from the computer, all four address tags were there, copied one for a test link.. [/img] Quote
