Keven,

Why do you say "they are the wrong ones".

Hank :)

perhaps because his are painted? and for the b-1/2 series, they should be chrome? just a guess.

wally

You're correct Wally.

Hank, mine should look like this:

So what you are saying is that the fiber board did have a vinyl covering? Thats nice to know when I get to restoring mine.

Thanks,

Yes. Are the two in the pic yours? :D

No. I have two sets of visors from power wagons. They were painted not chrome. They have been bead blasted. Visually they look the same as the picture, but the geometry is slightly different. To make them work properly I will have to fabricate a tapered wedge to mount between the visor bracket andf the cab valence. Like everything else, It'll take some work.

Well............I've got one correct drivers side coming to me. All I'll need is a passenger side and that will leave me with two correct visors for your truck.

Interested?

While doing a little searching for sun visor info I came across this thread.  My 51 originally came with both left and right sun visors and they were mostly intact and at some point I salvaged a spare (not sure which side it's for).

While looking at the spare salvaged arm I realized the visor is designed to slide on the shaft about 6" allowing the visor to be place in a better position to block the sun.  I then checked my two original visors and they both have the sliding feature.  I had not heard of this slide feature before and I'm wondering just how many others have noticed this feature?

The main reason I'm posting is what can be done to replace the original cardboard visor material?  I've done some searching and so far having come across any potential sources for replacement material.  Any suggestions on where to source potential replacement material?

Thanks,

Brad

Yah I know they slide...LOL I never use mine (even in modern vehicles).  I had mine redone at a local shop, not 100% orginal materials, but close enough for the looky loos.

Many types of material can be used to replace the cardboard.  When I rebuilt the drivers side visor I used brass plate I had laying around.  My neighbor used to rebuild industrial pumps and he saved the old brass shields and gave me some of them.  Used small brass nuts and bolts to attach it.  The cover was good so I was able to re use it.  Thought it would be too heavy but it works fine and it will never break again.  One day I will have to do the passenger side.

Not original but no one will ever see it.
