WHEN YOU SAY CLUTCH KIT, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

Do you currently have the pressure plate and clutch disk? are you looking for a new throwout bearing and assembly?

If you have the current pressure plate and clutch disk then you can have them rebuilt/ See Tennessee Clutch.

I used anti-rattle belting from Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts, but I think Mac's sells it also.

When i did my 39 Desoto i did not go back to the original cloth covered style. I found that if you got any wax on the material cloth then it left a white mark. Also this cloth style then has a tendency to soak up water and this is what caused the fenders to rust in this area on the car.

I when witht he plastic black style becasue if you get wax on it you can just wipe it off and it willnot leave a white mark. Also the plastic is more of an anti squeek since the fender can move as the ody twist and then then paint is not removed. ANother point it that since it is plasti it will not soakup any water.

The cars that used the black anti squeek did not have the anti squeek painted the color of the body. This was done when the car was painted a second time and the painter was lazy and did not remove the welting.

This is a big judgin point deduction if painted.

Can Anyone tell me where to find clutch kit for my 39 coupe and I also need to find the anti-rattle fabric between the body and the fenders.

I'm rebulding the engine so I figured I would just get a new clutch kit while I'm in there. It doesn't look too bad but I don't have the tool to align the clutch so I thought I could just ensure the clutch is solid and get the alignment tool while it's easy to get to.

The alignment tool is not required. I have done many clutch disc replacements without this tool by simply eyeballing the disc to insure it is centered. Like Rich said what is a clutch "kit". What exactly do you need?

Contact these folks as they can rebuild your pressure plate and supply whatever parts you need. Good idea to also have your flywheel re-surfaced. The flywheel surface should be ground not turned on a lathe as there are hard spots on your flywheel and this will cause a lathe tool to chatter and not produce a true surface.

From what I have heard other members that have used Tennesee Clutch they also include the alignment tool when they return your rebuild pressure plate and clutch disk. This company come very highly recomended by several members of the forum.

Used this co. about 2 yrs. ago. Asked price, was told it varied, but range seemed reasonable so i sent to the the pressure plate, clutch plate to them 3 day.

Called back to add a throw out bearing, if avail., and was told no problem! Was also told it would have a 1 day turn arround after arrival!!

Recieved completed all parts within a little over a week. He even included a plastic align plastic tool to align clutch, saw no charge added to bill for it!

WAY cheaper for all parts than any place that i had checked for replacements.

I did mention this forum as the sourse of my contacting him. Throwout bearing was about 1/3 price that i had seen before. Did i memtion the Pilot bearing?? Also in package. Don't remember asking for one!

Also lastly, i did tell him that i would add my positive feed back on this forum.

So, here it is.:D

Where did you get your anti-rattle fabric with the plastic backing. I've tried searching the web?

If you do a search on the Ebay under fender welting than you will see numerous sellers. I like the plastic over the old style cloth. Refer to my posting about getting wax on the welting if it is cloth and also the part about water.
