Young Ed Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 I believe the gasket holds the lense in and the gasket is held in with small screws and little tabs. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Ed is correct..there are three metal tabs that screw to the base once the lens is attached to the inner seating lip of the seal.. I believe if I had not already gone to the trouble of getting nice bezels and blue dot lenses that I would go with the reproduction units..of course my car is upgraded to 12 volts and that is a prerequisite Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) On the inside of the fenders, up a little above where the "new" tail lights are......can you see any hints of where there used to be 4 holes for mounting studs and a hole with "tabs" on two sides (where the bulb goes thru and the socket clips in)?? Maybe this picture will help some. Another view.......... Perhaps someone with a P15 close at hand could measure distance to the opening from the bottom edge of the fender. alteredpilot Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 @ bobt.. what are those skirts? Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 @ bobt..what are those skirts? I bought them on eBay several years ago. Were used.....price was reasonable....not the very best condition, but useable. No idea what brand they were to begin with. If you want decent skirts, I think Agape Auto in Indiana has metal ones. Some say the fiberglass ones aren't so hot.....I guess others find them OK. I bought some fiberglass ones from a forum member a couple years ago, but they are still in the box. Going to give them to the son in law for his P15 coupe. The latches on my skirts didn't seem completely trustworthy, so I have a small sheet metal screw in the front and rear edge of the skirt, painted to match the car. Not supposed to need them, but no big deal to me. Since many skirts look a lot alike, I measured mine so as to know what size to look for in the future. They are 33 3/4 long and 11 inches tall. Quote
Kudzuking Posted October 31, 2012 Author Report Posted October 31, 2012 Thanks for the exploded view from the manual BobT. I think i have figured out the problem, the housings must be from the LED kit, i guess the LED board acted as a seal to keep the lens in place, anyway, here's what i have to work with. Maybe i'll just epoxy the lenses in, Thanks for all the input. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 I believe it has been posted in the past that the original glass blue dots by Lynx-eye will not work in the repop LED assemblies.. you bezel as pictured does not have the three threaded bosses for the original lens to be secured into place.. Kudzuking Posted October 31, 2012 Author Report Posted October 31, 2012 Son-of-a-Biscuit eater, that's what i thought when i saw the pic. I like the old blue dots, but i may have to buy the LED boards for the housings if they can be bought seperately. Thanks Tim. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 I can't think of the company name at the moment, but you probably can look them up by searching google for those lights. They might choose to sell you the missing parts. Don't know that for sure, but would be worth a shot. There are usually a few sets offered for sale on Ebay. When I first saw those lights and the nice new shiny bezels, I thought that would be a real winner.....just add my lense......but, wrong. As was said, they won't work together. Quote
