Ok, so I started to swap my rear end out and found that one of my springs has several broken leafs. Does anyone know if there is another vehicle that is similar to these that I can make the swap? Kanter auto wants over $500 for the pair and that is just way over my price range. There will be just about nothing left stock in the car so I don't care what they come from, just as long as they are close and I can make them work. Help me please.

Hollander book shows rear springs as same:

chrysler 46-50 6 & 8 except 7pass.

chry. 51-51 6cyl.

desoto 39-52 6cyl.

dodge 38-52 pass.

plymouth 37-52all pass.

Help your looking?

Best of luck,

When doing my Ply. Bz Cp..I thought..hey use theset of D24 rebuilt springs on that car if I could..quick check proved them longer even considering the shorter eye to eye of the recurve..

as my exchange/interchange catalog is a bit newer, mid 50's I can say that for their application the larger three cars interchange..Plymouth still carries different numbers....

wondering if anyone else has first hand knowledge here..

as always i guess there exceptions to everything printed.

the info in the earlier post were from a hollander classic reprint i bought about a year ago originally printed for 1957 covering the 46-56 years. Has been helpful until now i guess!

Measurements given for models i listed are:

1 1/2" wide. 24 13/16 X 28 13/16 X 1 9/32 x 7/8.

Could not find in the book any complete explanation of these measurements except that springs are measured center to center- that's it!! :(

Hope i didn't give too much info and only confuse the issue!

Best,

Doug

Do you have a local spring shop in your area, if so they are use to rebuilding them. I just had a local shop take my P-15 springs and install the Nylon nubbin's to improve the ride and eliminate squeaks. $150.00 and change. They compleatly rebuilt them. I wish I had done the same to my 52 Chevy hardtop.

So I thought I had a set from someone local and they turned out to be wrong. I ordered the set from Posie's for $425 with shipping and damn they are nice. Now time to set the sure grip rear in there and move on to the next step. Lot's to do before spring time crusin'. Thanks everyone for your help!
