40P10touring sedan Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 Cool but she's UP...show me a CB&Q engine and I'd be seriously drooling. Quote
desoto1939 Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Ok. Great hobby and great detail inthe locomotive. With his asking price that is a real nice home down payment or retirement amt. If I bought that my wife would have me living in it and it does not look very comfortable to sleep in. Just kidding along. There isa gentleman in Hockhessen Delaware called the age of steam that has built a steam locomotive on his property and he also is the biggest collector of Stanley Steamers. His father had a stanley Steamer Dealsership in Delaware and they were into steam to run their factory. It is quite an impressive collection. http://www.auburnheights.org/ Tom Marshall is a very interesting person to talk to about the Steamers and is the authority on Stanley Steamers. 40P10touring sedan Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 To know that there's no "kit" for those and that the countless hours of machine work that is involved to make such a beast is truely impressive...I used to buy the live steam mags eons ago just to see what it would take to build a 1:24 scale item for G scale...wow, is all I could say even in that small scale! Flatie46 Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 That is an impressive piece for sure. I'd say just the blue printing and drawings were quite a job. It's nice and all but that's quite a chunk of change for a toy. I know some people will and can spend more on toys but poor little me can't justify it. That'd buy a nice home in my area or a mini farm. Cost of living is cheaper here than most places though. It might pay for itself if it were in an amuesment park or something. I know there's alot of upkeep on them. I ride the steam engine train Dollywood every now and then, I love the smell of burning coal. My grandparents had a coal stove when I was a kid, the smell brings back memories. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 Yep I'm in the same boat as most of the people here when it comes to spending large amounts of money on my hobbies. I love to tell when I'm showing oft my Dodge that I did it my way and that being I probably did 95 percent of the work on old Cowdodge! I have about 9,000 dollars into my car and that includes the cost. But my next old car will be bought and I hope it to be a Model A Ford. As that was my first car and I always wanted to buy another one but just haven't found one yet at the right price. When I see cars selling for 100,000 dollars I know that's way out of my league and beside I don't think any four wheel car going down the road is worth that much!! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/1942dodge/1942%20Dodge/DSC02957-1.jpg Quote
Young Ed Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 I just noticed your car has more of a p15 style fender. Are all the 42s like that? Or is yours a plodge? Quote
