I am sending my B4B frame to the Blaster on Monday, after stripping off every possible part, I am trying to determine if the frame was originally satin or gloss black? Does anyone know what the factory used?

I used epoxy primer and low gloss Valspar Tractor restoration paint. Its cheap, chip resistant and easy to use. I would double check and make sure your frame is square too. Mine ended up being twisted and bend.

I use the following, prep metal either sandblast sand, wirewheel whatever. Then acid treat bare or pitted steel, shoot on or roll, rusty metal primer, topcoat with Tremclad (rustoleum) semi-gloss or gloss black, rust paint. This has worked very well for me.

I do not use POR15,Zero Rust, or Eastwoods, the elcheapo stuff has served me right...

I did mine by grinding and sanding anything I could get a disc on and two coats of rustoleum rusty metal primer and two coats of gloss black. The first time I did it, (25 years ago) it held up pretty well with Conn. winters and salt so I did it again.

Thanks guys, I ended up settling on a painter to shoot the frame, he has a high chip resistant satin that he shoots on fleet vehicles in town. I decided that my the wife may have a few words with me if I setup a paint booth in the garage . A few hundred, no aggravation!

Are you suggesting Jim should clear coat it?

Hi Mark,

Hank :D

It sure does look good!

actually, if you could get a good bond and protection, that'd be cool
