Today my mom found another picture of Dolly Dodge. This is the earliest one we now have. It was taken in 1952. You can't see much of the old girl, but it is Dolly Dodge for sure. My grandfather is the second from the left (with the riding pants and lace up high top boots-the uniform of surveyors of his time). The photo caption on the back says "At the Sulphur Mine Spring of 1952." We aren't sure where that is, but the first man on the left mom says was Mr. Kitchins and mom said he owned mines out near Pahrump, Nevada, so maybe that is where the photo was taken. My grandfather was a land and mineral surveryor and Dolly Dodge was his truck for many years. L to R, Mr. Kitchins, my grandfather A. A. Brierly, John Gorman, Frank Madina, unknown, and Gordie Hutchinson. Gordie and Frank worked a loto on my grandfather's surveying crews. Both were around when I was a kid hanging out with my grandfather when he was surveying.

That is way cool. I am sure it brings back a lot of pleasant memories to have a photo like this. A copy of it would not be a bad addition to the cab decor either.

Makes me think of some of the old surveyors I worked with as a young pipeline mapper. Great guy's....not the most patient lot...but they sure had lot's of wonderful stories. Some of the cleverest and most resourceful characters I ever had the good fortune to work with. When I saw this it makes me wish there was a way to go back to those days. Didn't know how good I had it or how fleeting the experience really was.

Thanks for sharing.

nice find for you.

i wish we still had one of the vehicles my grandfather would have had back in the 40s and 50s. he, too, was a surveyor, and a forester. worked for the u.s. forest service at the time of the '38 hurricane in new england. we do have several photo albums from that time of photos he took, along with a few shots that he is in, but no "artifacts" or vehicles.

you lucky dog!

My father plowed thru decades of pictures to find ZERO pictures of FEF!

I'd almost kill for a picture like that!

ggdad, those old pics are priceless. As shown before we found our Dad's 34 Model D JD. My bro had it restored AND we have pictures. Yes, the newly painted D is the same as the one Dad is working on. circa 1948

I feel very fortunate to have the old pictures. My family was big picture takers so there are lots of them. I asked mom to try and find pictures of Dolly, and she has gotten me a bunch. I have the 1952, 1959, 1970s, and 1980s. She is still looking and I'll be she finds some more. It is fun.

that's what gets me...my father took pictures of EVERYTHING the farm got, planters, plows, tractors, heck even hay wagons...but no FEF! WTH dad?
