buds truck Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Went over to the west side of the mountains this weekend and my adopted dad gave me a right side sun visor!! He also gave me an outside visor that was stuffed in the front seat of his old pilothouse. He specifically pulled these grabbed these two parts for me before giving the truck to his twin grandsons. The visor is a great score for sure, but the outside visor is pretty bent up and is missing the side pieces. It is aluminum and has a "crosshatch" on the outer panels that would make straightening pretty darn difficult. I don't know if I can use the outside visor, but that inside visor will be a great addition. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Didnt know the right side visor was hard to find, I think both my trucks have, forsure my fixed up 50 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 nice, one of these days I need to revisit the passenger side visor project again. Unfortunatly george had to bow out of the project and since I found a passenger side visor it's dropped on my list of things to work on! I've often wondered if the trucks from OZ could be a source for passenger side visors for us? Quote
Desotodav Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 We have them on the right side here in Oz, but our mounting brackets are different to yours... Desotodav Quote
HanksB3B Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Bud, I hope I'm wrong but I suspect the right side visor you got from your dad is from a passenger car (but it might work). More then likely the three hole bracket will align with the holes in the cab and will work just fine in the flip-down position (most used) but if you swing the visor toward the passenger window you will find that the angle is not quite right. Most likely the visor will angle down from level, in which case you will find it necessary to fabricate a wedge under the bracket to correct the path of travel and make it work. (What I'm faced with in converting some passenger side visors originally from a Power Wagon. Hope I eat my words, Hank Quote
Mountie B1 Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I have a friend that has a 53 B4 and had an extra RS visor sitting in his shop so he gave it to me last weekend. The same person that I posted his engine/tranny for sale. Finding the right side is just like winning the lottery! Congrats on your find... Quote
NiftyFifty Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I looked in my spare parts bin tonight and found a psgr side visor, maybe more common here? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 The picture of Buds Rt inside visor is the correct 1951-3 truck visor. 1948-50 use a chrome mounting bracket as most of us know. Bob Quote
buds truck Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 so it is the correct visor?? Hank has me worried....... Quote
HanksB3B Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Well I wouldn't worry, but unless it was re-upholstered at some point the blade should look like DesotoDav's, just plain beaver-board. Why not just temporarily mount it to the truck and test it out. Hoping I'm not the expert, Hank Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Desotodav's visor pictures are US passenger car visors- at least 1949-52 like in my 51 and 2 Plymouths. Bob Quote
TheMoose Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I found both driver & passenger sun visors when I went thru all the boxes that came with my 51 parts truck. Quote
