eric wissing Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 I drove the 48 35 miles north through Plymouth County, which begins just on the edge of the city. The car ran great, steady 180 temp and 40 on the oil guage. This is the farthest I have driven it since I bought it two years ago. Blocking off the heat by pass seems to have worked. It even rained a bit on the way back and the wipers worked, sort of. I am going to try the vacuum canister modification. Great trip, beautiful rolling hills. A big thanks to all here who have helped along the way. Eric Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Eric; Glad you had a nice drive. You should drive to Tulsa and meet up with a bunch of us. Quote
eric wissing Posted May 4, 2007 Author Report Posted May 4, 2007 I am seriously thinking about it. I have a brother in Rogers, Ark. I don't believe it is too far away from there. Eric Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Eric, is there a "Plymouth County" sign. Although you have a Dodge, that might be a good picture. Is there a "Dodge County" in your state? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Speaking of Dodge County..about 30 miles from the house Ithink is the county line...be a nice addition to the shop wall...lol I love it..Georgia tags have the county name at the bottom in large black letters...the entire county drives a Dodge... eric wissing Posted May 4, 2007 Author Report Posted May 4, 2007 Bob, I have a Plymouth. I will take a picture of it soon as it stops raining here. There isn't a Dodge County that I am aware of. There is a Fort Dodge. Iowa has 99 counties. I haven't been to them all. It is a beautiful state if you get away from the Interstates. If you crossed it using I-80 you would not be impressed, slightly better than Nebraska which also is interesting if you get off the main track. Nothing beats Tennesee for driving through. Florida is about the worse. Just my narrow personal opinion. I haven't been to the Northeast or to the Northwest. Eric Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Nothing beats Tennesee for driving through. Eric I agree Tennessee is a great state to drive through. The state spends a lot of money on road work. And as the winters are not too harsh the roads stay in decent shape. It is hard to find a dirt (non paved) road in Tennessee. Go to Indiana and you may find a dirt road at the end of an exit ramp. Bad thing about Tennessee is the state seems to have an affair with billboards. Not quite as bad as the merriage Kentucky has with them. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Now how many songs are there about billboards..I can recall one, Doodling Del Reeves ...catchy little tune Quote
builtfercomfort Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 'Billboards' - apologies to Joyce Carol Oates I think that I shall never see A Billboard lovely as a tree Indeed unless the billboards fall We'll never see a tree at all! 'The Billboard Song' As I was walking down the street one dark and dreary day, I came upon a billboard and much to my dismay, The words were torn and tattered, From the storm the night before, The wind and rain had done its work and this is how it goes, Smoke Coca-Cola cigarettes, chew Wrigleys Spearmint beer, Ken-L-Ration dog food makes your complexion clear, Simonize your baby in a Hershey candy bar, And Texaco's a beauty cream that's used by every star. Take your next vacation in a brand new Frigedaire, Learn to play the piano in your winter underwear, Doctors say that babies should smoke until they're three, And people over sixty-five should bathe in Lipton tea. Bay rum is good for horses; it is the best in town. Castoria cures the measles, if you pay ten dollars down. Teeth extracted without pain, a nickel or half a dime. Rolex Watch is selling cheap, a bit behind the times. Chew siding for that headache. Eat Campbells for that cough. There's going to be a swimming bee at the village watering trough. Buy a case of ginger-ale, it makes the best of broth. Shinola's good to curl the hair, it will not rub it off! So take your next vacation in a brand new Frigidaire Learn to play the piano in your winter underwear Doctors say that babies should smoke until they're three And people over 65 should bathe in Lipton Tea. 1just4don Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Never thought of it in that way. There is a Dodge county in mid eastern Nebraska. Now to carry that a bit farther,,,"Did Matt Dillion drive a dodge when he lived with Miss Kitty in Dodge Kansas???" Never saw a hoss of that color and brand. BTW if your looking for Dodge county in Nebraska,,,best look around the Fremont area for best results!! These counties were named and laid out in the mid later 1800's long before Dodges were a glint in our great grandpappys eye. Wasnt there a great statesman these were named after??? Of that era?? Must have been a GREAT family name!!! Omaha's main drag is also called Dodge Street!! And there is a BIG real estate firm there of N.P. Dodge. Yep, must have been a very GOOD family name of local ancestors. just thinking, from just don!! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Matt Dillon...don't want to shoot down your favorite western idol but after 23 years on TV..all he ever asked Miss Kitty for was a beer...but here is a bit of triva...Poncho Villa escaped across the Mexican border in a Dodge... Quote
