meadowbrook
Hi all. I was wondering how much would be reasonable to expect to pay for a front seat reupholstering on a 1950 D34? The seat is in decent shape except for the cover which is ripping apart.
falconvan
Id check your local Craigslist for someone doing it out of their home. There are lots of small operators out there who just do a little here and there for extra $$. A friend of mine found a guy with a little basement shop that did his front and back seats for $275 and they look sharp.

47heaven
You can do it yourself, but unless you are skilled in the upholstery profession, your results will look like you did it yourself. The cheaper you pay for the work, the cheaper it looks, I have found. Like they say...you get what you pay for.
Plymouthy Adams
I paid what I considered a bit much for the job on my car..but I also feel I got what I paid for..the materials I chose were a bit on the higher side than most fabrics..but it was a complete re-do with front seat cushion repair and spring adjustments done at the same time...all new panel material..kick panel, door, package tray and rear quarters, the door and quarter panels sealed against the weather with plastic membrane....the seats were custom above and beyond factory in grade of material and pleats with bottoms and have cloth backs instead of vinyl also. The car is quite large, 54 Club Coupe, includes headliner/sail panels. rear quarter panels in tri fabric, vinyl/cloth/carpet, complete heavy tweed fabric makes the seat backs and bottoms, panels, and headliner..60/40 split bench front, full rear, new loop pile carpet, package tray, kick panels, arm rests and visors..and best yet..he gave me my 10 day turn around as per my request for an event.....2700.00 sorry the picture does not show the seat bse cover in place at the time of the picture..this has been also painted to match the body and with the stainless trim it does sharpen thing up a bit.. Big_John
I used these guys for the seats in my Chrysler: http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/seatcovers.htm If the seat is decent, you can just install right over the existing seat. It's not all that hard, just take your time. My rear seat. This was taken down to the bare springs and I used new foam and burlap.
