hello everyone,

greetings from indy.

working on a 48 dodge d24 coupe. the front of the frame has been hacked off and a 67 monacco front end was added.

functional, yes.....but pretty, ....umm no!!!

i leaning toward replacing the frame. does anyone know which years and body styles are compatible?

I can't answer the question but I am sure someone on here will.

But, I have an EXCELLENT frame from a 1941 Plymouth sedan and I believe that it would fit your car.

Again, someone here will surely know the answer to that.

Joe

I sent you an email and a PM.

So how often do you look under there???? with the sheet metal on it probably isn't too noticable unless the wheels aren't centered. This used to be a popular swap done by the Ford F 100 guys, as it lowered their trucks and gave them a better ride, power steering and disc brakes.

Were I in your shoes, I would make sure its up to snuff mechanically, and drive it before I messed with yanking it or delving into a frame swap.

But if you got it in your head to put the body on something else, a LWB Dakota would be a place to start looking and measuring.

Good luck ad welcome.

i am going to start by taking it apart so i can clean it up and see what i have.

if i think i can use it as is then i will. i am not concerned with the looks as much as the safety. i have 3 kids who might be in the car.

i found a 94-07 ex cab dakota frame that was given to me if i want it, and ive found a couple of good deals on stock frames, just not sure if they would work (they are 4 door cars).

since i came across some deals, that are close and cheap, i thought i would latch on to a backup plan, in case what i have isnt salvageable. i will most likely end up kicking myself if i dont get one of them

are the 2 and 4 door models different?

46 to 49 first series dodge

4dr sedan

2dr sedan

club coupe

business coupe

Are all the same frame....119.5 wheelbase

7 passenger 4 dr sedan is different due to a longer wheelbase, convertible of course has a x member for stiffness due to lack of a rigid top.

46-49 desoto, windsor, and new yorker all have longer wheelbases.
