My neighbor john is wanting to sell the engine and trans out of his 55 savoy...the engine is a 230ci and the trans is the usual plymouth 3 speed...no fluid drive.

Turns over but not running at the moment....trans worked fine according to him. Not having the mileage handy what would be a decent figure for both or either....I told him I'd ask here for an honest opinion of what they might be worth....I can get over there and help him get her running if she'll cooperate.

:confused:Running with compression #'s, Oil pressure cold and warm, Sounds? Ticks, Knocks, Etc, can change price from $50 to ???. Location also make a big difference as in Ca. parking old cars can be hastle, many old cars are scrapped to stay out of trouble!!!

Rodding his ride?, Have seen some who are happy to get that antique motor out of their way and will almost give it away.

Do not know the prices in your area. Availibilty seems to be KEY!

I gave 200 for my 56 engine and trans back a while. There was some other stuff in the deal and the engine had just came out of a running driving car. I rebuilt it instead of the tired 218, all it needed was pistons but I wnet with an overbore and several other changes.

I'd imagine all this came about after I came home with my 265 and said if it weren't for that motor I'd be hitting him up for his...was actaully the origonal game plan then I went with displacement.

He hasn't touched it for about 8 yrs and I've been trying to get a fire lit under him for a while...hehehe...guess he's getting closer. His problem is he's fixing up his house too and that consumes 99.9% of his spare time...the other percent is he and I talking cars.

Hopefully he and I can get it fired up just for the sake of doing so..maybe a quick drive too.

I appreciate the input guys!

About 2 years ago I bought a running 230 / 3 speed from a 57 Plymouth driver that a guy was rodding. Price was $150.
