HanksB3B
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, it's just a virtual world these days. You could send me a plane ticket, I'll bring my tape and we can measure the length of the engine block together. There's a real nice restaraunt just over the New Mexico border in Las Cruses I wouldn't mind going back to, or the Cattleman ain't half bad either! Heck I'll even buy lunch. lugnut123
You just measure the block/ head front to back. It will be a 23 or 25 inch. The 25's were in ton and a half trucks and up. did the engine come out of A half ton? has the block been over hauled or was it stock? thanks sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. HanksB3B
is somewhere outside of El Paso. You know how City Slickers are about directions especially in the desert. Over yonder past the giant cactus and three fences past that clump of tumbleweeds. I was on a business trip and the night I was there our host arranged for my one and only hayride and had Louis Lamour tell the story of Wyatt Earp around a campfire. I don't know which was better the story from a famous author, the steak or the baked beans. Hank
Dave72dt
Participated in countless hayrides. All involved loading and unloading hay or straw, hot temps and sweat. No campfire, no famous author. just home grown vegetables and meat, the evening news with Walter Cronkite followed by the local news and weather. Charles Furman
This looks like a 48 or 49 1/2 ton - 1 ton truck? If so, can you tell if the steering has play in it or is it tight? If it seems pretty tight, I would be interested in talking to you about the steering box and column.

HanksB3B
I believe I read somewhere that the steering box from the 48-50 series is different than the steering box for the 51-53 series. Just saying, Hank
