Hey guys,

If any canadian members were interested, I was thinking we should have a get-together sometime this summer. Everyone would be welcome (of course) but it would be nice to have some local guys get together to share and enjoy our trucks and cars. Lots of chev and ford groups around here, but not many pilothouse or dodge trucks in the dodge shows.

Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested and maybe we can put something together for sometime this summer.

Thanks :)

Well that sound like a hoot. Count us in. Any month except May or June.

Took a look at the map and there is no logical spot dead geographic centre of Prince Albert, Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge, but the hamlet of Wayne near Drumheller is sort of central and lots of fun to visit. We were down there last year with the Edmonton club — the Rosedeer Hotel in Wayne is a popular destination for car and 'cycle tours, with good food, fascinating decor and reasonable rooms. The (paved) road to get there is interesting too — something like 11 bridges in seven miles.

Chris, Western Canada, starts at the Manitoba/Ontario Border, how about we meet in Moosejaw, that might be the middle of the territory........

Oops, sorry Fred. You're absolutely right. Ever since the Bombers joined the Eastern Conference I forget that Manitoba is still one of us! Moose Jaw would be just fine, anywhere at all really that is a long drive from Edmonton.

Anywhere in the 1/2 way poitn say between Winnipeg and Calgary/Edmonton would be a good area, but hey if it is hosted in Alberta that would be fine too......

Hey.....why not figure BC into this...

Indeed. And looking at the map, Wayne AB is pretty close to halfway between Winnipeg and Campbell River.

Oh wow, the bombers still have a team hey? :D

I was kinda thinking saskatoon or moose jaw myself, but let's work on it. We have a few months to work on it.

Anywhere at all is fine by me — Wayne was only a suggestion. The organizer (not me) should pick a place that works well for them.

Looking at a trip to Boseman Montana in August with a bunch of cruisers from Vancouver Island....so half way makes no difference to me.....If timing was right i could make it either coming or going.....lets see where it goes....

I went through these a couple of years ago. The Al Capone tour was my favorite of the 2. The Passage to Fortune tour is about Chinese immigrants to that area and Canada in general. I felt a little embarassed about how they were treated.

It looks like there is a Show and Shine there on July 21st. Not much info out yet.

I've never been to this, but I've always wanted to go...

Al Capone spent time in these back in the day

Kind of central for everyone in this part of the country I'm thinking, but I'm open for everything

Thanks

Sounds like a cool place to visit, Neil.

I think the way things were done in our early history, was much rougher than now. I would however, would not want to find out how China might deal with some of us in perhaps a POW situation or a labor camp....

Is there still interest in a Western Canada/Prairies get-together this summer?

Jerry and I are planning a run to Vancouver Island August 07-12, but other than that the calendar is fairly clear after June.

Wayne would sound pretty good to me. Heard of it but never been there. The hotel owner was on Canadian Pickers the first year. I have lots of relates in Red Deer so it would work well for me.

Count me in.It would be nice to get away for a few days...

I would try to make it as well, not sure if my car would make it. I may attempt it.

I hope you can make it.

Following is a story from my personal experience.I bought my 46 Plymouth several years back from an elderly farmer located north of Saskatoon.I hadn't inspected the car beforehand, only seen photos.Speaking with the owner,he assured me not to worry,it could be driven anywhere.A price was agreed upon and I took a Greyhound bus along with a box of tools on an overnight trip to Saskatoon where the farmer had agreed to meet me at 7:00 am at the bus depot with the Plymouth.

Greyhound had assured me the tools that I had taken along would arrive on the same bus,(a transfer in Calgary). My tools didn't arrive and Greyhound didn't know where they were - I filled out the neccessary claim.

The farmer arrived on schedule with the car, the car wasn't quite as good as the owner had described. The tires (16 inch) although they had plenty of tread were badly weather checked and of course there were a few other minor things, although nothing that should be regarded as a "show stopper". After a quick check of the vehicle,it appeared that it was at least safe to drive.I paid the guy and set off for home,a distance of about 400 miles.Needless to say,I was feeling very uncomfortable

not having any tools with me.The drive was uneventful and rather enjoyable. The car ran fine, the radio even worked.I arrived home in time for dinner after a day's drive, stopping for lunch and gas along the way.

So that said,I guess my point is we can sometimes worry too much about things that can go wrong...

Oh, and to finish the story, the tools I had taken along were located and arrived in Lethbridge the following day where I picked them up at the Greyhound depot.:)
