40P10touring sedan Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 I have contacted the Shrock brothers out of Coalport PA they said that if I get them a reasonably good seal to copy they can reproduce them. I will be meeting up with them at York for the Studebaker swap meet in March it will take them some time to make it but they will. On the carpet, I had mine made by a interior man. I don't think you can order it as the P-9 and P-10 did not have carpet in them. Good to know on both counts....actually, mine had rear carpet only, I just want some up front too. Quote
ntxcustoms Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Check with Steele Rubber Products. If they don't have it they may be willing to make them if there is enough interest. Quote
Don St Peter Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 I reported in an earlier post that my source was Bill Call in Calif. who is a POC member. The post gave contact info also. I have a 40 Ply and it worked great. If you can't find post, let me know & I will look him up. Don Quote

Don St Peter Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Try this Bill call Rather than post his Ph # try his E mail billsplymouths.aol.com I would guess most of you have heard of him, or talked to him at some point in your restoration. If not, you are in for a treat. He was the source for my mask and many other items. Don Quote

40P10touring sedan Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Don, are you sure this is the guy? Got a reply back today from Bill- "not sure - who are you? call............." Maybe I need to learn the secret handshake or knock 1st?! Quote
Don St Peter Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 I sent you an E Mail with more contact info. Once you make contact perhaps you could post info for others to see providing it's OK with Bill. Don Quote
BHondle'40 Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Rodney, coincidentally, I have been talking with another 1940 plymouth owner who needs a draft seal. I have an old one that can be used as a model for a CA co (MetalRubber) that could make some up for us. we need to get together as many '40 Plymouth owners as possible to spread out the costs, then I can get us a quote./QUOTE]Hi Bob: I haven't seen any more about this post since last April, so is anything else happening with regard to the draft seal production? I see a post in April with regard to Bill Call and in February with regard to Shrock Brothers, so are either of these sources producing the draft seal for the '40? Thanks! Quote
Bob Riding Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I sent an email to MetalRubber a few months ago and haven't heard - I'll follow up and let everyone know Bob Quote
BHondle'40 Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I sent an email to MetalRubber a few months ago and haven't heard - I'll follow up and let everyone knowBob Thank you, Bob, for your diligence in this matter, as well as to others on this post! Bruce Quote
Bob Riding Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 I emailed him yesterday - waiting for a reply. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 5, 2012 Author Report Posted August 5, 2012 I saw this post and ment to address it. The person that was going to make the seal for us has a family emergency. I called and he said he was very busy with his sick wife. I will wait until he has time to get back to me. i know some have been waiting however these guy's have been real good to me and they have my patterns. I am sure they will make them. Until then I have just....stuck a sock in it:cool:for the time being. Quote
BHondle'40 Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 A "thank you" goes to both you and Bob Riding for following up in this matter. I was going to post the research I have been doing in locating an alternative product for the 1940 (e.g., a steering column seal from a 1940 Pontiac, for example) but it appears there is really nothing left to due but to exercise patience. With regard to your alternative, Rodney, people have been telling me to "put a sock in it" for years. But that's an entirely different story.... Quote
40P10touring sedan Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Hopefully when things are settled this gentleman can make us the draft seal, thanks guys for trying like you do......Rodney, can you pass a clean sock?! Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted January 25, 2014 Author Report Posted January 25, 2014 Ok guy's, I talked to Dave Kruse today, he is at a show in California ( 85 degress ) I am so mad He said he was going to tool up for that seal. He asked me to e-mail him at krusn64@aol.com to get on his list and he will contact us as to when the seal will be ready. So I hope all that want one please let him know we need them. Quote
Bmartin Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 I need one of these for my 40. Do we just email him and ask to be put on the list? Any idea on cost? If they are reasonable, may pick up two. One to try cutting and a spare in case that does not work. Quote
DJ194950 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 I bought several parts from him off ebay at the start of my 50 Ply. Suburban and later direct. Very happy of the quality and fit. Prices not cheap (reasonable in years past- 6?) but compared to something Steele would change they were! Hope he does them for you both soon! Doug Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Bmartin, Yes, e-mail him and tell him you would like one. I think the reason they are not producing them is because of demand. If we show there is interest I think he will get right on it. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Hopefully when things are settled this gentleman can make us the draft seal, thanks guys for trying like you do......Rodney, can you pass a clean sock?! I don't know if I can. Quote
40desoto Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 I need one as well. Im assuming the 40 Desoto coupe would be the same as a 40 PLymouth? Quote
Marcel Backs Posted November 30, 2020 Report Posted November 30, 2020 I restored my seal for my 1940 D 14 using Flex Seal black in a spray can. The results were impressive since the whole centre part was gone. The seal looks like a freshly reproduced part. Since this is a spray you must build the surface with many applications leaving a lot of time at room temperature to set up. Once set up this product creates a tough rubberized surface. Quote
