I have 2 Dodge truck gas tanks. The one used is out of a 1953 Dodge truck. Same as in all 1/2 through 1 ton trucks and also used up through 2-1/2 tonner as the standard tank.

The 2nd tank-It is NOS. Someone wrote 48-50 Fargo. It's a little bit different. I have never seen one like it. The size is the same and mounts the same but the fuel line fitting is on the top of the tank and the filler pipe angle is more to the rear of the tank and at a lower flatter angle. Ilooked through all the Dodge truck parts books from 1948-1956-no pics of this odd tank, even for route vans!

Any one got any ideas?

I have a few tanks in my possession but I have never seen one like your second tank - with the "fuel line fitting is on the top of the tank and the filler pipe angle ... more to the rear" as you say.

It looks like they both have the retainer ring type fuel sender fittings, which causes me to think that they both came from 6V trucks.

Maybe a Job Rated (39-47) tank?

Don

Nope not a 39-47 tank. Ours are almost completely flat on top.
