Dodgeb4ya Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I have 2 Dodge truck gas tanks. The one used is out of a 1953 Dodge truck. Same as in all 1/2 through 1 ton trucks and also used up through 2-1/2 tonner as the standard tank. The 2nd tank-It is NOS. Someone wrote 48-50 Fargo. It's a little bit different. I have never seen one like it. The size is the same and mounts the same but the fuel line fitting is on the top of the tank and the filler pipe angle is more to the rear of the tank and at a lower flatter angle. Ilooked through all the Dodge truck parts books from 1948-1956-no pics of this odd tank, even for route vans! Any one got any ideas? Quote
Don G 1947 Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Maybe a Job Rated (39-47) tank? Don Quote
Desotodav Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I have a few tanks in my possession but I have never seen one like your second tank - with the "fuel line fitting is on the top of the tank and the filler pipe angle ... more to the rear" as you say. It looks like they both have the retainer ring type fuel sender fittings, which causes me to think that they both came from 6V trucks. Desotodav Quote
Young Ed Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Maybe a Job Rated (39-47) tank?Don Nope not a 39-47 tank. Ours are almost completely flat on top. Quote
OLD DODGE Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Bob, What do you think of this? If you'd be willing to sell it I'd pay you the full factory retail price. Kevin Clause Quote

Desotodav Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 I came across this interesting Dodge gas tank whilst out west last week. Can anyone ID this one???... Desotodav Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Good one... That would be the optional "Yard Tank". Good for 2 trips around the yard before a refill is needed. Merle Quote
