i really wanted the 39, but its out of my price range, even if i sell the 41, what do you guys think about ford mustang 3.8 motor, i'm a diehard mopar guy, and really want mopar power in my 41, but a kid i work with has a 97 mustang 3.8, with trans, gas tank, complete wiring harness, all gauges, computers, even center console with shifter, and he said he also has an explorer 8.8 that he'll throw in for $150 for the whole package, he's turning his mustang into a track/race car, i'm not big on the ford thing, or the fuel injection, but it gets 27 mpg, and has low miles, heres a few new pics, and a couple of really cool ones of the original factory grease pencil markings i found under headliner, and door panels

sweet! Love those 41's. She's got some great looking lines. Have fun with her, and keep us posted.

The 2nd pic looks like it's a straight up gasser!

Well that seem like a good price for a complete drive train if it came out of a runner. How long is the engine? Am I correct in assuming it is a v6? Could be a good situation regarding power and economy.

have given thought to V8in my 41...hard to walk away from such a dependable flatty with overdrive....I would go with a mopar set-up...If I were to use a Ford it would be a 5lt with 5 speed.....

I think that using a computer controlled anything will end up a bag of snakes.

No, a carb'd v-8 or even a v-6 will probably use more fuel than a 'controlled' something, but it will also be a whole lot easier to assemble and work on...unless you are computer savvy or have a 12 year old handy...:P

That looks like one big project, with the potential to be a very nice car.

Given the amount of time, energy, money required to do it properly it makes little sense to start out with a drivetrain you don't like and don't want. That would be a good way to ensure the job will never get properly finished — and if it does, to not be happy with the end result.

Wait 'till the right drivetrain comes along. You'll be glad you did.

I saw of a 41 project, a guy putting the 41 body on a Dakota frame/etc.

Dakota had V8s, and V6s.

that was actualy my original plan, it needs to much work to restore, i was looking for a straight axle, then i found the 39 bus coupe, (which is what i really wanted), and put this one up for sale, but i changed my mind, so the 39 will have to wait, so its back to the gasser idea, yeh i decided to pass on the 3.8, not a ford guy, never liked them, it just seemed almost to good to pass up, but i'm going to stick with the 318 idea, i have a complete 67 belvedere 4 door, which gives me motor, trans, rear, and complete wiring harness, and anything else i need, like gas tank, i hate to part out any old mopars, but its worth more that way anyway, fenders, hood, trunklid, grille, bumpers, all identical to 67 gtx, and all in mint condition

38 was the last year for the leaf spring front end on the Plymouths.

Those gasser cars look real cool, expecially a 41. I believe I have

a front axle/springs from a 36 Dodge, if that would help, and you decide

to go with a gasser look.
