Joe Flanagan Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 On my hydraulic brake switch, one of the connectors is longer than the other. Does it matter which one you attach the power feed to and which one gets the feed to the brake lights? Thanks. Quote
TodFitch Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Electrically it should not matter as it's just a switch. I've never paid much attention which wire I've put on which connector. I think the height is staggered, at least on the screw type version of the switch, to reduce the chances that one wire will touch the other and short out. Not sure if the switch with the push on type connection has staggered height or not... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 and on the downstream side of the switch is where you will wire the third brake light...it must run indepent of the brakes/turn signal switch.. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 i don't think it makes a difference... but electricity has never been my favorite field of activity. when i changed mine i just put the wires back on randomly and it works fine. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted October 8, 2011 Author Report Posted October 8, 2011 OK, thank you. I guessed that the terminals were staggered for the reason Tod mentioned but I wasn't sure. Tim, thanks for the reminder on the 3rd brake light. Quote
