1952B3b23 Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Hello Everyone, My name is Chris and i am from Massachusetts, the Springfield area. I recently bought a 1952 B3b Pilot House that had been previously partially restored by the last owner. It is in decent shape the cab portion and frame are rust free and it is in running and driving condition. It is missing the bed, it currently has a flat bed with wooden side rails and wooden deck. I decided to join since this is my first classic truck and i'm sure i have a lot to learn and this is a great place to get started. Quote

1952B3b23 Posted September 2, 2011 Author Report Posted September 2, 2011 Does anybody know of anyone that is selling a bed that would fit my '52? I am having trouble locating one. Quote
HanksB3B Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Is Groton N.Y. too far away? http://syracuse.craigslist.org/cto/2565013257.html Also check out Bruce Horkey's web site. http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com Hank Nice Truck! Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Contact member Jim Roach. He's in PA and he used to have a complete bed. I don't recall if it was for a B3 or a B4 but if he still has it it may be worth contacting him. Quote
1952B3b23 Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 I will contact Jim and see if he still has the bed. Hank, i looked at Horkey's parts and they look like they are really good quality parts. I priced out an entire new bed and it was almost $2000!!! I'm going to keep looking for a used one and then buy parts from Horkey's as need be. Thanks for the help guys, and compliments on the truck! -Chris Quote
HanksB3B Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Chris, Yes Bruce is expensive but his workmanship is so top quality even the owner of the bodyshop where my truck was being worked on (who only recognizes $70k to $100k plus 50's cars as anything worthwhile) said "That guy that did your bed did an amazing job". I really had no other choice because my bed was totaled because of my trucks former life as a roofing truck. I Fedex'd the stakepockets to Bruce as these are impossible to find except from a wreck or old bed. Bruce reconditioned the stake pockets and then welded them to new side panels, supplied NOS front panel, tailgate, wood and polished S.S. hardware. I saved up for a long time to do that. Hope you find one in great shape, Hank Quote
1952B3b23 Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 Hank, I agree that Bruces work does look very nice and i would love for him to make up a bed for my truck. Its just that the funding isnt there at the moment. So i may just wait and keep saving up so that i can get a high quality piece from Bruce, if i cant find a bed in decent shape. Thank you for your input. Chris Quote
