I've searched the forum, but could not find anything referencing a conversion for 6V pos ground conversions. Is this possible? I did see something about PerTronix, but their website does not reference 6v pos ground. Is this doable?

look up massey harris combine in the agricultural catalog with the chrysler engine, the foot note says order such and such for 6 V pos.

Most parts houses have an Industrial catalog if they can find it. They can look by make of equipment any parts you might need. The early Gleaner Combines had Chrysler flat head engines, the later used slant 6 engines. My brother in law has a later one now with the slant 6. I often have to have the parts man go to the industrial catalog for parts for my P-15.

You might try contacting Dave Ray in Yerington, NV. He rebuilt and converted my points dist. to electronic with a GM module. Granted it was for a V8 and neg. ground but I'm sure he would be able to tell you in a moment if converting yours is feasible. He can be reached at 1(775)463-1821 or daveray@dslextreme.com He's a one man shop and dedicated to customer service so he may note pick up the phone if he's in the middle of a project. My experience is that he does good work at a fair price with satisfaction guaranteed.

BTW the number is not in service... I did send an email which looks like it has gone through without issue.

When I looked at Per Tronix site I was unable to see a pointless setup for my car, so I called and talked with a tech about my car. He got my distributor model number and got back with me the next day to say they have a setup for my car. I do not have the name and number of the man I talked to now. If You talk with them, you may find out that they have a unit that will work for your car.

Sorry about that. My receipt shows Jun 2010. I Googled his name and it comes up 62 years old, which is about right, and the correct address in Yerington, NV. It cost $.95 to get his phone number so I'll leave that to you if you decide you need to get to him.

If You talk with them, you may find out that they have a unit that will work for your car.

Yeah they asked me for the same info and told me the same thing. I have had good luck with their products. Granted I haven't used it in my Plymouth, but I've had it in my Chevy truck 283 for about 6 years with no issues. Friends of mine have had good luck as well. I would have used them for the Plymouth if I wouldn't have converted to 12v.

Since there has been questions on this subject, i thought i'd attach the pages from pertronix catalog that pertain to chyrsler corp. 6 cyl. flat motors.

i've used several conversions myself and love them. Worn bushing in distributor making your dwell reading change with rpm changes?. these electronic setups don't care since there is no longer any pressure against the point cam to cause this problem.

I know some say that's being lazy, maybe, but even in a tight dist. point gap will change.

Each to their own.;)

This is the number I recieved from Pertroincs for my 51 Distributor. "You are going to need Ignitor part number: 1362 (12-volt negative). If you need a coil use Flame-Thrower coil part number: 40501 (Chrome) or 40511 (Black)". I had an installation problem on my 57 Vette with dual points years ago because the instructions were printed incorrectly, and Pertronic's tech dept. got it straightened it out for me. Great folks to work with.
