Greg F Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Does anyone know if there is a way to convert my two barrell intake(4 bolt) to the original single barrell carb(2 bolt) pattern. I have a stromberg two barrel carb that fits on it, just don't want to rig a new throttle system if I don't have to. Would like to use the original carb and linkage. Thanks as always for your help...GREG Quote
1941Rick Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 new manifold? or build an adapter plate Quote
aero3113 Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Contact these guys they may be able to fab an adapter for you http://www.vintagespeed.com/ Quote
james curl Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) They make a one barrel carburetor manifold adapter to install a two barrel carburetor on a one barrel manifold. If you just reversed one of them then you could use your one barrel carburetor. Edited August 9, 2011 by james curl spelling Quote
Young Ed Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Greg I'd be happy to trade you a 1bbl manifold for that 2bbl one. Quote
Greg F Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 Do you think this would work from Langdon's. Could just reverse it. I just want to see if I can get this running someday soon. Maybe then I could concentrate on building a throttle linkage for the two barrell. thanks again for the advice...GREG Quote
greg g Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Yes except that you will need to fiddle withthe linkage, as it mounts the carb 90 degrees off from the stock position. The best way as ED says it to get the stock 1 bbl manifold. I have acouple also. Why do you not want to run a 2bbl? It gives you +8 hp over the single. shold be a carter BBD 2bbl. Quote
Greg F Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 Greg, You are right. That would not help much..ugh. I have a Stromberg WW two barrell that fits nicely, just would have to run different linkage (Lokar) like one of the other gentlemen did. Getting overly anctious and trying to see if I could try to get it to run, as this is the first car I have ever really worked on. Guess I'll just figure out a linkage solution to use the Stromberg, and do it the right way. Really apppreciate all your ideas..GF Quote
