JerseyHarold
I just got my Harbor Freight July coupon book and they have their 47016/67181 gravity feed spray gun on sale for $12.99. Here's the link: http://www.harborfreight.com/20-oz-8-cfm-gravity-feed-spray-gun-67181.html My first job would be to repaint the junkyard door I bought last year for our '98Lumina to replace the one that some kid smashed for us. The Lumina has metallic basecoat/clearcoat paint. The description of the gun mentions oil-base paints but doesn't talk about what would probably be a lacquer product on the Chevy. I have a couple of older-style suction/pressure guns that I haven't used in many years, and I'm wondering if the new gun would work better. Has anyone here ever used one of these? Are they any good? Any thoughts appreciated. Harold
Plymouthy Adams
good for throwing at a dog..I have seen their so called guns and don't much recommend them...a really good gun for the do it at home person can be had through Sharpe..the Finex line..less than 100.00 gravity flow cup that is true HVLP...plus these guns are super nice for ease of operation and extremely easy to clean..only area that you need to watch is the secondary air slide on the trigger..it can get a bit gummed with paint while cleaning..WD-40 this on assembly..be good to go... I have a similar, and primered and painted my car with it. I would like a better quality gun, but used this. I would say buy it, it is cheap enough, see what you think of it. I figure if it can be used for a few times, then throw away, or maybe just primers.....
dezeldoc
I have used them in a pinch for color and they don't work to bad at all. if you are just learning it is a good gun for the money as if you forget or don't clean it out you are not out much $$. I like to use them in the summer when i use the poly-prime as sometimes it goes off quicker than it should because of the heat out here and i don't want to waste a good gun. falconvan
I used one of those to paint my frame, seemed to work fine. Not sure if I'd use it for a finish coat but probably fine for primers. Eastwood makes some good economy priced HLVP guns that work well. You use a lot less paint with one of those.
Socal48
I used a pair of those on a job a couple of years ago, we had a job at a local resort painting all of the new hand rails with oil based paint...it was appx 6mo of work as long as they were kept clean they worked great...I also primered two trucks with the same gun. So for the money I would say yeah they're worth it.
