T120 Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Headed up to Pincher Creek today, thought I might meet up with Chris on the Model T tour - missed him. Had a pleasant Sunday drive although the rain was heavy at times with lots of spray from passing trucks on the highway.Had I modified my D25 with a race engine such as Don C. has in his Plymouth, I could have been head of the pack and wouldn't have been splashed as much.;)The car ran very well, good gas mileage (about 18 mpg - US gal or 21.8 mpg - Imp gal, if my math is correct) at 55 mph.I did a little touring as well in spite of the weather and put on nearly 200 miles. My wife didn't want to accompany me on the trip and her only request was that I make it home for Sunday dinner. randroid Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Ralph, I sometimes enjoy a drive in the rain, especially when I'm by myself and am just ambling around with nowhere in particular to go and am not in any hurry to get there. Looks like it was a good relaxing time and an excellent reason to stop for happy hour. You make it home on time? -Randy Quote
T120 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 Hi Randy,I did make it home on time and it was an enjoyable drive. On the route home it was a little more scenic and hardly any traffic Quote

T120 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 Thanks,Greg.I think it looks better in B&W - I'll save that one. Quote
pflaming Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 I love the pic with the red barn. I take pics from the forum I like and use them as my screensaver. Now the coupe and the red barn will welcome me for a while. I understand the water level is so high in the mid section of Canada that the farmers can't plant their crops. Has that changed? Quote
1940plymouth Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Ralph, Glad you were able to get out and about. The photos are fantastic, thanks for sharing Quote
T120 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) I understand the water level is so high in the mid section of Canada that the farmers can't plant their crops. Has that changed? There has been a lot of flooding, particularly bad in south east Saskatchewan and south west Manitoba as well as North Dakota - a sad situation for a lot of farmers and homeowners in flooded areas.A lot of farmers won't get their crops planted in those areas this year.. captden29 Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 alot of people with old cars panic if it rains and their car will get wet. i do not care if it rains while i am out as i have wipers and a defroster.heck, it's a car and a little rain won't kill it. my car is an old convertible and it will leak a little in a heavy rain so i prefer not to drive in the rain, but sometimes ma nature does things differently. i have seen people spend 50,000 on a restoration and then not put wipers on the car. go figure? antway, glad you enjoyed your day, and as a bonus most of our cars look better wet. i know mine does. capt den Quote
T120 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 The rain was quite heavy at times and actually the old vacuum wipers work quite well.I carry a bottle of Rain X in the trunk for backup just in case.A little drip from the cowl vent but nothing serious. My car looks better wet as well Quote
T120 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 My daughter bought me a dog for my car,not as much fun as yours -just sits there quietly and nods it's head in agreement Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Well... that's what the car is for. To enjoy! If I get caught in the rain, it's just hot as hell when you roll the windows up with no A/C down here in Florida. lol Tom Quote
