Dave72dt Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 It'd look better without the factory badge on it than with it. The newer style you're getting wpould go where the very top stainless piece is. Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 If your after a different style of badge for the front you will need one from a US or Canadian 48,49 or 50 model. They were used in Australia in that time but are hard to find over here. Quote
dontknowitall Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) I dont mind that one..You can see my boring one huh? I have asked junior below what he wants for them.. I have a grill like that, although need big repairs , so, I could use it....I could change the whole front still being Canadian as mine is not Ozzie assembled If your after a different style of badge for the front you will need one from a US or Canadian 48,49 or 50 model. They were used in Australia in that time but are hard to find over here. dontknowitall Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 Is it not Stainless? QUOTE=Tony WestOZ;247898]The metal used to make these badges tends to break insteed of bending. Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Is it not Stainless? Sorry I thought they were cast pot metal. If they are pressed stainless then you can re-shape it. Quote
Lee Exline Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Somewhere, somehow I found an NOS (or damn nice) pair of these. Not sure what years they fit but if someone needs them make me a decent offer. Quote
HanksB3B Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Glad mines not a Fargo because it took me over two years (when junk-yards were junk-yards and eBay didn't exist) to find my Dodge ones and I'm sure Fargo ones are even harder to find these days. Hank Quote

dontknowitall Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 are they the same? Is this a right and left pair? Quote
Lee Exline Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 are they the same? Is this a right and left pair? They are the same right and left. I was wondering what year they fit? I knew the where hood side emblems. Quote
Dave72dt Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Hank and Ed's emblem look remarkably similar and they're at least 5 yrs apart in models. If they are indeed the same, I'd expect the same for a Fargo. You'd have to find something definitvely different in size or style to come up with a range of years. Quote
Desotodav Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I found that the older badges differed in size (and weight). I'm not sure where the difference started though. I have a few badges in my possession now for future projects. Our ozzie trucks had the 2 bonnet-mounted emblems, and an additional one mounted just below the tailgate. The last photo was for you Ryan - I'll have a Desoto badge mounted here soon. Desotodav Quote

dontknowitall Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 fn11950fargo... did you get my PM? I am not sure what year. I would guess 1948 to 1950. Quote
dontknowitall Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 Talking about badges..what year is this one and is this of a truck or car? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1950s-DODGE-FARGO-BONNET-EMBLEM-/180659009530?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a101db7fa Quote

That is a truck one for sure and with that point it goes on a 41. Here's an image I borrowed off google. This grill treatment may have been used in 42,46-47 also. Quote
dontknowitall Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks for that..it looked to short as if someone cut of the tail end.. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Nope. I've got its mate at home. NOS 41 plymouth pickup hood ornament. For 41 plymouth and fargo shared most of the grill trim. Fargo may have continued to use it but plymouth didn't make any trucks after 41. Quote
