I see Mikey has two pieces of rocker trim for sale on ebay for $450. I have one good one and one where someone put some screws through to attach to the car.

Is this price reasonable? I was going to look for a new piece of trim in the future, but just wondered if this is how much I am going to have to pay.

Thanks as always...GREG

Well all I can say if you need it and want to pay top dollar but I think you can get trim cheaper. You just got to watch e-bay or when you run into someone that has your paticular type car then they might have what your looking for. I have aquired two rocket trim pcs for 50 dollars apiece and I thought that was a fair deal.

right side ones are difficult to come by as their exposure to the curbs and other pass side obstructions usually make them more likely to be damaged. I have seen single driver quality right sides go for about 375 at Hershey. If you have one, it can be repaired. the holes can be filled and they can be massaged and polished. You might want to check your area or Hemmings for some one to make your's right.

But, I would probably try to get the car mechanically sound and driveable before investing i cosmetic stuff. Once you get it up and running and get out and about where other folks with old car get together cruise ins, car shows shop meets, you might find some one in your area who has or can point you to pieces or people who can make those repairs. thee is a fellow on the studebaker truck forum that is just startig up a stainless repair business. From what i have seen of his work, he's pretty good. Not concours but good driver type work.

If you are interested I will try to get his email.

JipJob is right. If you watch e-bay and other sources, I'm sure you will find something for much less. I've gotten practically all my chrome and stainless on e-bay and when I thought there was no way I'd find a certain item for a reasonable price, it always turned up some time later. I got a pair of the ribbed 1949 bumpers for 150 and they are in very good condition. I had to drive five or six hours to get them, but for what those things are going for, it was worth it.

this trim is very hard to come by and if found, most are showing signs of curb rash and the seemingly inevitible sheet metal screw. If you are going for a points car..the NOS pieces are not out of bounds but can be considered a tad pricy, one must examine their individual need, add the time spent in looking and guaging against the ones you have seen for sale and the work that will be involved to bring them back to a presentable condition......I have found many pieces of this stuff at swap meets and most are as described above...only if you luck upon a guy who has these and not know their application do you have a good chance of getting away with a good deal..

most stainless trim repair if sent out is nowhere close to cheap...now if you have some experience and a good buffer..you may be able to work these at home for a decent looking set of drivers quality..it does not take long before you have many hours into working each piece..

bottom line..supply and demand...the dreaded phrase..."gotta pay to play"

Seems a bit pricey. I got driver's side rocker molding for $100. a couple of weeks ago.
