moose Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I put this on the for sale page, but I'd like to get rid of this stuff soon... These all came from a 50 Chrysler Royal Wagon. Front suspension arms-upper and lower- Just rusty not bent. The rear axle is a 3.91 and I'm keeping the brake parts. The three speed was maybe behind a fluid drive? If you want to come get it, it's all yours. I'll ship the arms for the price of postage. Quote
55 Fargo Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Yup, that 3 speed was behind a fluid drive alright, which was common in a lot of Royals. Wish I were nearby, would take the trans, in case I ever return my 47 Royal back to fluid drive, it is currently using a dry clutch and 3spd, trans... Quote

Chrysler only made 599 of those "Royal" 6 cylinder woodie 4 door wagons.Bob Bob it's worse than that, these came from a steel Town and Country. Only 100 were made! The rest of the car is in good hands, but it's not a 6 cylinder anymore. My friend Eli is doing the work. 413-727 I think. Maybe it's going to be an auto-OD? These came from the car that my Windsor was going to be the parts car for... Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Wow Moose! I have never seen a 1950 T&C "steel" wagon. I have a 50 Royal wagon, and a 1950 T&C hardtop-none are as rare as that 1950 steel wagon! Those suspension /rear end and brake drums parts are the heavier duty 8 cylinder parts. Really hard to find too! Quote
moose Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Wow Moose! I'll try to get some pictures of it at some point. It is going to be a really nice car. Nothing is going to be changed on the body, and interior will be close to original too, but the drive train is all newer. I know he had to cut the firewall to fit the 413, but the owner is very particular and wants it to look like it was a stock engine. I can't wait to see it. I also got from this car the heavy duty brakes, 12" drums with a bigger bolt pattern, and the wheels to match--6" wide 15's. I plan on using all the backing plates and spindles on my Model A. They'll replace the 10" stuff I have on there now. Then put the HD stuff on the Windsor, and the Windsor's drums on the A. That way I can keep the '36 wheels(5 on 4.5) on the A, and I can run wider/taller tires on the Windsor. What's the best size to run on the 6" wheels? 8.20? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 8.20's were factory equipment on all my straight 8 cars with the 6" rims up through 1950. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I don't know what year this was.....was sent to the crusher a couple years ago. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 In fact, this entire yard was crushed. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I thought I had felt a disturbance in the Force Its a crying shame to see whole yards crushed. Quote
moose Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) I don't know what year this was.....was sent to the crusher a coupleyears ago. Man that's a shame. Looks like it's a 49 or 50, either way they didn't make many of those... Bob, I remember going to a yard down there, probably in the early 90's, somewhere south of Joplin/Carthage. Maybe near Goodman? Is that the one? If so, that is really a shame. I remember acres of stuff back to the fifties, a good amount of forties, and even a little thirties. Is it all gone now? moose Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 I made a call to my friend last night. He takes truck loads to the scrap yard, and he's going to come pick up this stuff later in the week. If anybody wants it, speak now or forever hold your peace. It's a shame, but I don't have room for this stuff anymore. I'm trying to empty out the garage(and house) so we can sell and move to a bigger place. We've got a small two bedroom house and two kids. That's fine with bunk beds, but when the third kid comes along in July... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Moose - that's probably the same place - J & M. The owner had developed health problems and no one wanted to buy the yard in it's entirity. So it was crushed. Quote
Mark D Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Congrats on the new addition to the family! Quote
