Chester Brzostowski Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 This came out better then I expected. I didn't even have to use the extra piece I bought because I figured I needed some practice material. If you are interested.., click on the link below, for the details... http://www.chetscoins.com/1948p15/2011/02122011.htm Chet... Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Looks very nice. That is some great info on the installation...I appreciate it. Never thought to attach little tabs so you could adjust and manipulate the welting....very slick! Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Looks good Chet, should have went with SS welting on my car too... Quote
greg g Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Looks great Chet, Gonna put a bug in your ear about the Walter P Chrysle meet in July 13-16 in VT. You could even work in a trip to Cape Cod on the way there or back. Hopefully we can get a bunch to go. so far its Mark A, and me. Since ther is no Plymouth meet on the east coast, this seem like a logical for the tailgaters. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Looks beautiful, Chet. I see you got inspired by our visit with the Canadians. I've been out rebuilding my engine. Quote
steveplym Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Looks good Chet. Nice job. Will look even better once you get the stainless moldings on. Good luck with your progress. Bet you can't wait to get it on the road. Quote
windsor8 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Looks good. I just removed one rear fender today and will be needing new welting. Where did you get your ss welting? Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted February 13, 2011 Author Report Posted February 13, 2011 windsor8 I purchased the stainless welt from Dennis Carpenter Ford restoration parts. I think the part number is 48-16070-SS $25.00 each plus shipping. You should call first they cost a lot of money to ship because they come in 8 foot lengths. If you just need one I have one extra piece and the tube they came in. $15.00 plus shipping which I think will be about the same as the part price. Greg, I hope the car will be on the road by then but you never know. I am trying to be back together by June. I don’t think I will make that date unless I side step things. My fear is that if I do that I will never get back to the little details once I start driving the car. Joe, You are right the Canadian’s renewed my working enthusiasm. I am definitely growing tired of work on this car. Took off Monday to keep at it. I will be trying to install most of the dash components, wipers, radio, cowl vent, sealing the floor before I install the carpet. I am buying a molded rug set with padding from Kantar. I still need to redo all the door glass and window tracks. Thanks to all for the encouragement, it keeps me going. Chet… Quote
greg g Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I think a running and driving car might spur you on to the details. Hope you can find the ime and ispiration. ( I think Don is giving it some serious thought) Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Greg, I am trying !!! Tackled the Model 36 heater today. Making one good one from two basket cases. See link below for the blow by blow. http://www.chetscoins.com/1948p15/2011/02142011.htm Chet... Quote
Young Ed Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Hey Chet looks good. I used the silver version of that same paint on mine. Also if you find yourself not needing that extra firewall spacer I'm short one. Edited February 15, 2011 by Young Ed Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Also if you find yourself not needing that extra firewall spacer I'm short one. Ed, Email your address to me and I will send you the spacer. Both spacers are in great shape. PS... Nice job on the heater. That paint really gives a nice finish. Chet... chetbrz@aol.com Quote
