With all of the severe weather we have been having this winter, the Department of Transportation issued a travel warning. They suggest that anyone traveling in the current icy conditions should have the following:

Shovel

Blankets or sleeping bag

Extra clothing including coats, hats and gloves

24 hours worth of food

De-icer

Rock salt

Flashlight and spare batteries

Road flares or reflective triangles

Empty gas can

Booster cables

Boy did I look like an idiot on the bus this morning.

All kidding aside...

I would like to add one more suggestion to the list.

A candle and a lighter.

Seriously, it should be part of any emergency kit.

Probably sounds like sour grapes, but I wish that some of that winter weather would visit us here in California.

Been sunny and dry for most of 1.5 months now and we are having record high temperatures where I am. The mountain snow pack is starting to look pretty thin which means more water supply problems coming up...
