ggdad1951
how are these on there? How does one go about replacing? Pressed in? Threaded? The cap on mine is Swiss cheese!
maverick
they are pressed in and usually very difficult to remove without destroying them.
ggdad1951
I have a feeling to replace it WILL destroy the original but want to know how to remove it "right"
JBNeal
if that oiler cup & cap is rusty, then it'll be purt'near impossible to remove it without destroying it. I reckon these things are installed much like the filler neck engine block, and rocking them back & forth allows ya to wiggle them loose. Maybe contact one of those distributor / generator resto services, maybe they'll have the materials and some words of wisdom that might could get ya moving in the right direction (a tribute may be required). Dave72dt
Maybe slipping a dowel, wooden or metal, inside the cup to keep it from collapsing when squeezed would help.
ggdad1951
I have no fear of machining out the old one/pressing in a new one if I need to to make it right after the fact, just wanted to know how they are installed
Dodgeb4ya
I just pulled this distributor oiler out of a old P26 core motor. You can carefully remove the oiler cap separately. The main part into the distributor is really quite thick steel tube and I really tightened the vise grips on it to remove it-it didn't crush at all as you can see. ggdad1951
the one on my distributor is a one piece 90° fitting. Just spent a fair amount of time seaching the nekkid lady giver for a supplier with my only hit being a source in England, and I don't think they have the "one" that will work. MSC has them but not quite the same style. Anyone have a source? Edited February 7, 2011 by ggdad1951
