P-12 Tommy Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Hey guys, Yesterday something in my hand brake lever let loose and now the lever won't stay put. The trigger is laying flat. Could the spring that holds the locking jaw be broken? I've done the search and can't find an exploded view of the hand brake lever assembly. My books don't have a diagram. I want to see what I need to fix it. Thanks, Tom Quote
T120 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Hi Tom.I copied these two photos from Mopar Streamliner. On photo 2 - item no.4-14-26, hand brake lever release spoon (spring) looks like that spring you had for the glove box... Quote
1940plymouth Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Tom, Here is another scan out of my parts book, hopefully between Ralph's and mine you'll find what you need Quote
tinlizzy Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Not to hijack the thread but thought this might be a good time to chime in. Someone a while back posted a picture of a hand brake they modified to use on modern rear wheel emergency brakes. I have searched threads but can't seem to locate it. They had it in a pickup with a jeep or charger rear as I recall. Anyone have an idea who did it? Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted February 3, 2011 Author Report Posted February 3, 2011 Thanks to both you guys. I'll take the lever out and I'm sure something will fall out on the floor. lol Tom Quote

I don't think it would really even require modification. Just hook the OEM cable up to some cables from the rear end. Might require custom making an intermediate cable. Quote
james curl Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Tim Adams has that set up on his early 40s Dodge with the V/8, and he did Don Coatney's for him on one of Dons visits to Tims. Quote

I'm not sure if they still sell it, but at one point Lokar had a kit to do exactly that. Marty Quote
