yourpc48 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Or use it for parts? I know someone that has had a 40s vintage 1 1/2 or 2 ton Dodge PU. It has been sitting for a long time but was running when parked. It is Rough plain and simple but do-able. One of those how far gone is too far gone kinda things (yes I have looked at that thread). This is a truck that should be helped before its not able to be helped. I have pictures and will post them. Dont bother asking if it has rust because the answer is YES. It will need metal surgery. Maybe after I get a chance to post pics someone can identify the year too. Yes you can PM me if you want. Edited January 31, 2011 by yourpc48 Quote
Young Ed Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I belong to a 39-47 dodge truck yahoo group. If you post or send me the info I will pass the lead onto the group. Quote
Dan Babb Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Are they trying to sell it or give it away? There's always someone willing to revive an old truck. Post up some pics here. Also over the the HAMB. I've seen posts where guys take half a car or truck and make a killer hotrod out of it over there. Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 Here are a couple of pics of the Truck and a link to a page with more pics. http://car.icompute.info/dodge_pu_pictures.htm Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 Sell it but I think it would go cheap. It has 2 spare windshield frames to go with it since the one in it is almost completely shot. Anyone have an ID on the year? I didnt ask when I was taking pics and Im curious. Quote
41/53dodges Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 whereabouts is this thing exactly? Quote
Young Ed Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Its a 47 from the ID tag being on the drivers side. Quote
oldmopar Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 The 1/2 -1 ton uses the same cab as the power wagons so if the windshield frames are in good condition you can get at least $300 for them. Not sure about the larger cabs Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 whereabouts is this thing exactly? This truck is in Coos Bay Oregon. Located on Highway 101 on the central Oregon coast. (thus the rust) The frame on this truck seems solid enough but the body needs help. Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 OK I got the scoop on the truck and extras. The truck is pretty rough as you can tell by the pictures. However it comes with what looks like 2 spare windshield frames and a dual carb intake manifold with the extra carb and what looks like most of the linkage. $1000 for all. Doesnt seem like too bad a deal. Quote
Dozerman51 Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 From the looks of the tranny shifter, it appears to have a 2-speed rear end installed on it. Quote
41/53dodges Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 does anybody have about $850 and a flatbed i can permanently borrow? Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 I do believe that there is a 2 speed rear end (or something) in this one. I saw some interesting stuff on the frame rail mid way from the cab to the rear end. I didnt look that close. If anyone wants more info or want to have specific pictures I can arrange that. Quote
PatS.... Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) We had one identical to that on Kijiji here for about 3 months for $250. The ad is gone now so I don't know if it sold or went for scrap...or the owner just let the ad expire and it's still there. The one I bought about 4 yrs ago was in better condition and was $450 (it's a Fargo) In the field: In the city after clean-up: Now belongs to my nephew. I found a good engine off Kijiji (free)and he put it in and got it running: First drive around the yard: <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvidmg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv20%2Fpsatchwill%2F1947_Fargo%2FMVI_0044.mp4"> Edited January 31, 2011 by PatS.... yourpc48 Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) The dual carb intake with carbs and linkage is worth at least $350 and its specifically for the large truck. It says right on it: Truck 1 1/2 ton 2 ton. By the way, I didnt set the asking price the owner did. If someone was interested they could always make an offer. Reg Evans Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'm confused. Your photo of the truck engine only shows a single carb manifold. Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) The manifold is seperate but is included with the truck. I didnt get a picture of it. The carb on the truck is one carb and the manifold has another carb and what looks like most of the linkage to complete the dual carb setup... Edited January 31, 2011 by yourpc48 Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Oh....OK. Do you know if the owner also has the two piece dual exhaust manifold that would have been on the truck with the factory dual carb manifold ? Quote
yourpc48 Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 I didnt look at the exhaust manifold that was on the truck. If its not on the truck now then I dont think its there. I think that the dual intake is an aftermarket manifold. It has a strange name on it like Lieland or something like that. Not an Edelbrock or Weiand etc. It looked like the Offy manifold listed at Summit for my Plymouth but for the Dodge Trucks. http://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/Offenhauser/Product-Line/Offenhauser-Dual-Carburetor-Intake-Manifolds/ I would have to go look at it again to be sure. yourpc48 Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 Thanks Bob. That sounds right. I knew it was something odd compared to what I was used to. Quote
