dontknowitall Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Hi, just out of curiosity, what is the average cost for a re-upholstery paid by members in the USA? Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I payed here $100 for two GMC WWII seat like this. Quote
dontknowitall Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 thanks fernando, judging by the going rate in Australia my quote just for the bench seat of my B2B is over 800... I wonder if I would take of the material and send it to the USA if I would be cheaper of. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I paid $400 for my seat and two door panels in my 46 pickup. However that was a neighbor that does it as a side job. So at a professional shop I'd expect it to be higher. Quote
austinsailor Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I paid $400 for the two seat parts. It needed everything but the springs, all the stuffing was gone. I've since learned there are a couple other local shops that would be less. The same shop priced my 47, very similar seats, at $200, but it only needed the fabric covering. All the innards were still in good shape. Quote
grey beard Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 I scrounged in a junk yard and pulled the covers off of an 87 Ford f 150 - just the upholstery covers. Theh I hog-ringed them over my origihal seat uphoilstery. Cost me only the hog rings. If you try this, don't ask how much for seats. They sell a lot of them. Ask just how much for the upholstery. They crush that stuff every day and rerely sell any. JMHO Good Luci Quote
dontknowitall Posted January 7, 2011 Author Report Posted January 7, 2011 Thanks all, I am considering to just get the cover remade, removing and installing it myself. Quote
SteveMelchiorre Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) I paid $200 to have the bench seat recovered in my '52 B3B. --That's remade and installed! Steve... Edited January 8, 2011 by SteveMelchiorre Quote
jpwuertz Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I paid $400 for the seat and 2 door panels. I tried to get them to look just like the original equipment in color an style. This was done at an auto upholstry shop. Quote
dontknowitall Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 Quotes here in Australia are around $700-900 Dollars... Quote
dontknowitall Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 Was this done in Leather? I paid $400 for the seat and 2 door panels. I tried to get them to look just like the original equipment in color an style. This was done at an auto upholstry shop. Quote
DollyDodge Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I paid $300 for my seats to be covered. I ended up purchasing more clips to "beef" up the job the shop did. He did not have any clips like the original ones and only used the ones that were salvagable, so he was a little light on the number of clips. My seat turned out really nice. Quote
