dontknowitall
Have installed a new, (refurbished) pump but now I notice that the pulley housing almost touches the waterpump housing! For me to use it I would have to make and place a spacer between to require the clearing needed.. I have got the old pump but have diffeculties removing the shaft.. Anyone had this problem? lugnut123
Is the old water pump shaft the same length? maybe you can put a puller on the pump flange and scoot it out.
dontknowitall
I have the pulley connecter plate of, but there is a springclip holding the shaft in place which I cannot seem to remove. Hence the shaft is unremovable. The only thing I can think of is that the pump ir larger then the original one fitting to my
Don Coatney
Can you post a picture to better explain the problem?
Dave72dt
My experience with water pumps tells me the sheave hub was pressed on too far onto the shaft. It'll need to be pulled back to the correct distance.
Dave72dt
The picture of a new pump tells me the shaft has the brg integral with it. The snap ring holds the brg in place in the housing and removing it to move the shaft will pull the brg out of the housing. Also, the impeller is pressed onto the opposite end of the shaft at a specifed distance from the housing and also compresses the internal seal so again, pulling the shaft out the front will ruin the seal, break the impeller. If a rebuild kit was to be used, the impeller needs to be removed first, often a new one in the kit with ceramic seal, then the drives sheave hub pulled from the front, snap ring removed and shaft/brg pressed or driven out the front. Jerry Roberts
Do your pulleys all line up for the V belt ? Just another thing to consider .
dontknowitall
here is the issue. the pulley is to close to the housing. Found this link from Boxe-INV from which I have used the following photos. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=21206&highlight=waterpump I suppose I just need to use spacers as it will not line up with the other pulleys. MBF
I just pulled a 6 bladed fan off my parts truck. It has a larger pulley than what is currently on my truck, and there were 2 spacers behind it (between the rear of the pulley and the bolt flange). I'm assuming that this fan wasn't original, and was from another application that the previous owner used. Mike
desoto1939
In the picture I can not see the hub that the pully should be bolting onto. It looks as if you are just trying to slide the pully onto the shaft. The is a hub that slides on the shaft and then a pin is driven through the hub and shaft to hold it in position. Then the fan and pully bolts up to the hub. Seems as if you are missing something. For what car or truck are you working on?
