JohnS48plm Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Nice coupe. I wish I still had mine. JohnS Quote
Greenbomb Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 That looks like a dandy! Nice find. Another added kicker : the old Mopar got rescued before the hot-to-go Chevelle. Well done! Quote
Beatles65 Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 Well I would like to buy that Chevelle also someday. Quote
Beatles65 Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 Here is the 1948 Plymouth Deluxe Club Coupe all cleaned up inside and out. Man that thing was really dirty!! First we cleaned out the interior. We took out the seats took off the seat covers and then cleaned the original seats as best we could, then we took the shop-vac and got all the mice droppings and other stuff that was on the floor and in the trunk. The car was full of parts both in the car itself and in the trunk. The next step was to wash off the 13 years of dirt that was on the car. Now she looks great! I discovered that the original color of the paint was tan and sometime in the past it had been repainted the maroon color that it has now. I prefer this color but if i was ever going to repaint it I think I would take it back to original color. Here are some pictures of the car when we were cleaning it and when it was all done. Also there are some pictures of the parts and the interior and engine bay and trunk. Enjoy!! Thanks for reading, from Nebraska, Andrew. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 It appears your car was converted to 12 volts at some time or possibly a 6 volt alternator was installed. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 The good news is - you got the parts. What's bad is when they're all missing. I'm sure some won't be usable, but might provide a sample or a pattern for a replacement. If you can't tell what something is, just ask. And, of course, sending a picture along with the question is best. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Thanks for the extra pics. Tom Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I see the rubber hoses making a "Y". Did or does this car have two heaters - one on each side? Quote
carls 49 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 thanks for all the great pics. that is one cool car. looks great cleaned up. congrats and have fun with it andrew. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Now......you've done good, so far.......but those tires need just a little scrubbing. For rubber like tires and those door sill mats, I like Mean Green spray cleaner sold at Dollar General Stores for about $2 per bottle. And a medium stiff bristle brush. + sometimes a brillo pad for those pesky whitewalls. Sure looks better. It's nice that the seats are in that good shape, you can see how the coverings were done if you want to replace with an original look. Can you register the car using those nice 1948 license plates? Beatles65 Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) Now here is the 1948 Plymouth with all the other cars in my collection. I think that this car is a wonderfull addition to the collection and I cannot wait to get it on the road! That is me in the photo. *Not pictured is my 1964 Ford F100 Flareside as I still have to go and pick that one up. Edited October 25, 2010 by Beatles65 Quote

RobertKB Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Nice collection of cars. Thanks for posting and all the other pictures of getting the '48. Do you have space for all of those inside or do some live outside? What is the 1920's car?? I love those old timers. Quote

For now the only car that can be inside is the really old one, the 1928 Dodge Victory 6. I do plan on storing them inside this winter, as we might be building a shed soon. If that doesnt work out a neighbor has a building that I can store them in. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 way to go, andrew! the coupe looks great, it's a sleeping beauty really. wake it up gently! thanks for sharing the pics.... best, fred Quote

I look at the car as a time capsule waiting to be opened up and shared with the world. I cannot wait to get her back on the road again for all to see. Quote
48P15Annie Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Looks good, Beatles. What are your plans for it? Looks better all cleaned out and the seats back in, lol What are your plans for the exterior? Paint looks fairly decent, looks like it could be brought back to life with a lil' bit o good ole fashioned elbow grease. Nice over all collection...love the '28 Dodge. Quote

Thanks a lot for the kind words 48P15Annie . What I plan to do is swap the stuck engine for another one so that I can get the car back on the road. I will keep the original engine and if it isnt to far gone try and rebuild it to put back in the car. I will also probably be going through the brakes and wiring and getting new tires so it is safe. For the the mean time the exterior will stay as it is. I will try and bring it back to life with a little polish so it will shine. The original color for the car is tan so when i eventually do have to repaint it I will take it back to original factory colors. I like keeping everything original or as close to as I can. I can tell you, this car is so cool looking and I cannot wait to get it so I can drive it and show it off (as one should do when you own a classic car). It will take some time and money but it will all be worth it in the end. Thanks again, from Nebraska, Andrew. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 Genuine barn find! Congratulations! It is really a fine car, lots of period accessories too. A rare adventure to find and take home such time capsuled gem. Thanks for all the pictures that tells us the story. However, I am most impressed by your '28 Victory Six. Please let us know that story some day. All the best, Pekka Quote
