O.k. here is the problem. Tried to connect the horn and it started to sound. Pressed the horn ring and it stopped. Removed the horn ring and medallion and all looked fine. Put it all back together. Started to connect the horn wires again and guess what, beep!!! Has anybody had a problem like this and if so, how do I fix? Could it be the relay? It appears to work in reverse. I press the horn ring and it stops, release the horn ring and beep. Thanks.

the wire to the steering wheel is the ground to complete the circuit. If you have a ground through worn insulation it will sound the horn. ther is a butt connector where the wire comes out of the steering box. disconect it there and see if the problem persists. If not then you kow the fault is in the steering column or button ring. If the wire needs to be replaced, connect the new wire to the old one at the steering box, and pull it through or you can conect the new one at the top and pull it through the column. What ever you do, DO NOT pull the wire from either end without attaching a replacment.

Thanks guys!!! will try suggeations in the a.m. Thanks for the illustrations!!!

have a great Sunday and Go SF Giants !!

Lost again today, hope they don't tank it. And I'm a A's fan myself.:P

I'm clueless about sports....

Went up to "the City" today for a some shopping, a matinee play and a nice dinner. My typical way to the Sutter-Stockton garage is via I-280 which drops into King Street. Then King Street to make a left on 3rd. It was a bit slow getting by the stadium at 3rd and King. Did not know there was a game today until it was too late to take another route....

Here is one for the memory bank. After checking all ideas suggested, it turned out to be a bent horn ring. The one that came with the car had the top half of the ring gone. I bought a nice one along with the horn cap on EBay for 30.00 bucks. Compared it with the original and saw it had a bend in it, preventing it to push down on the horn cup. Put on the one i bought and it works like it should. Thanks everyone for your help!!!

Yeah.....NOW you say that. Too late as I already pulled the horn wire

out, after it came loose from the T in the center of the steering wheel.

Guess I'll do what I did last time.......run a fairly stiff wire thru the

column, then attach to horn wire and gently pull.

No original horns....no problem....I have a beep horn, an oogah horn, or

a siren to use in their place. :D

Just not looking forward to removing the horn center, etc and messing

with it. Will try to take note of just how the stuff in there is, cause it

was working perfectly after my last fix several years ago. (pat self on back)
