Chester Brzostowski Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 My 48P15 will be coming out of the paint shop in another week or two. Does anyone sell reproduction pot metal parts or do I have to go through the re-chrome process $$$. Thanks in advance, Chet… Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Hey Chester, It all depends on how rare the part is. Carlise is coming up so the back 40 on the other side of the hill has alot of old mopar parts. I will be there. Get yourself so good walking shoes. The thing is you have to find the best canidate for chroming if your origianl is bad. Quote
desoto1939 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Right after Carilse is the AACA Hershey meet at Hershey park in Hershey PA. There will be approx 5-8000 car vendors attending. Plan on comeing for several days like Wed, Thursday and Friday. Saturday is the carshow and most of the vendors are shutdown by Saturday and even late Friday night I think the date in 10-6,7,8 it arounf the weekend just after carisle. Do a search on AACA for the hershey event. This is the big mecca of car shows and swap meets. Rich Hartung Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted September 2, 2010 Author Report Posted September 2, 2010 Thanks, I will just have to start doing an inventory this weekend. Three days should be enough time to find all these parts and determine what is worth re-chroming. Thank God for the stainless trim pieces. I think this is going to cost a small fortune. Just ordered some stuff from steel rubber, which is a $400 phone call and I haven’t scratched the surface yet. Oh well I shouldn’t complain I knew this would be upon me sooner or latter. I guess I should send the bumpers out now. Chet… Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Chet, I got nearly all of my chrome on e-bay. Some of it show quality, most of it very decent. I think I spent under 500 for everything, and that includes two bumpers. I just put it together a piece at a time. You'd be surprised at what's out there. Some of my stuff cleaned up so well with an SOS pad that I decided not to replace it. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Chet you really don't have all that much chrome to worry about. 2 bumpers, possibly 4 guards, 4 pieces on the trunk, 2 on the hood, 1 windshield center if you have a special deluxe, and the door handles. And do follow Joes advice about ebay. I got all 4 bumper guards NOS about 2 weeks ago for the cost of rechroming 1. Quote

Chester Brzostowski Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 I dropped the parts off with the platter today: Rodney, Have you ever dealt with Metro Plating. 4110 Howard Avenue Kensington, MD. I dropped off most of my Pot Metal with him for re-chroming. I toured his shop and his prices and work seen excellent. I was just wondering if you have dealt with him in that he is the only platter in the DC Metro area. Chet... Quote

Chester Brzostowski Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 Good pick up Ed. The old gentlemen who owns the operation is a real nice guy and probably didn't notice. He polishes stainless and showed me pieces from another car that you could see yourself in them like a mirror. So far I have a great deal of confidence after seeing his shop and the work he does. Thanks for the heads up I will give him a call in the morning. Chet... Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Hey Chet, Yes I delt with him many years ago. He does good work. At the time he was so busy. He does not do bumpers that's why I did not stay with him. Hanlon does bumpers, however they do not repair pot metal. I had forgotten about the guy in Kensington. Alot of packard people use him so you know he's good. Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 Rodney, Is Hanlon local ? Chet... Quote
