Allen I. Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 I did the google on the interwebs and came up with these. Very early 1900 vehicles. Find anything else with it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knox_Automobile http://books.google.com/books?id=2Y65rOvjhWUC&pg=PA83&lpg=PA83&dq=knox+trucks&source=bl&ots=TobtWwY2bU&sig=IRrO4PFoNqtrx0u2JsBYkyQ2puQ&hl=en&ei=uCl7TJbnI5btnQeT_82dCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=7&ved=0CDAQ6AEwBg#v=onepage&q=knox%20trucks&f=false The 1910 "motorized" fire truck on this page may very well be my favorite vehcile ever. http://rides.webshots.com/album/549102117emkkPa Quote
41/53dodges Posted August 30, 2010 Author Report Posted August 30, 2010 no, its set up as an old pick-up bed trailer, looks 30's or 40's to me. i would get it, but my father controls all! (storage, that is!) Quote
Young Ed Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Knox made aftermarket beds. Commonly found on internationals. You probably found the back 1/2 of a K or KB pickup. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 as Ed says..these are aftermarket boxes..most commonly know for grain hauling...these Knox beds can be found on about every make and model truck of the era... Quote
Young Ed Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Tim maybe its just my luck but I've never seen one on anything but an IHC. Must have been a popular choice for the IH guys back then. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 they were under contract with IHC for sure...but I did see one on a Chevy in a junkyard...reason is I know this is I saw the letter KNOX from afar and thinking I have found a K series IHC and go there only to learn it was was just another piece of GM junk..I remember reading somewhere that the KNOX company were reknown for the special bed for purpose of hauling grain.. Young Ed Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Tim can you tell I have a secret love of IH trucks? There was a D series IHC truck at the MN state fair. It was restored by a local harley dealer as a small tanker truck. Its painted harley colors of course. They had it for sale for 60K. I just couldn't quite convince the in-laws to buy it for me. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) I am now wondering if the truck I saw may have had a bed swap..you know how that GM stuff rust so quickly...lol...After seeing the cab I paid the truck absolutely no nevermind..I like you, like the old IHC's the d's are flat out sharp..the early K1 is very nice but the bling they threw on the KB's..just too much,..looks like a cheap hooker no matter what street corner you park it.. Young Ed Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 I've been helping Dad here and there on his two R series trucks. Let me tell anyone here if you thought rebuilding a mopar 6 was expensive don't even glance at an IH motor. Putting that SD220 back into his R was no picnic either. Trans uses studs for some unknown reason and weighs about 200lbs. The bellhousing also has ears that sit on each side of a non-removeable frame crossmember. It was no easy task. Quote
41/53dodges Posted August 30, 2010 Author Report Posted August 30, 2010 if you guys want an IHC stake truck, there is one near here for sale on the interstate for $500 if i remember right. Quote
lugnut123 Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 I was told IH put rolls royce engines in there trucks for awhile. Maybe that's why there expensive to rebuild. Quote
jakenoklahoma Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 I have a Knox 3/4 trailer I picked up at a garage sale. Tough old guy, from the late 40s. If anyone is looking, its just taking up space... Quote
