Price Of Motor Oil These Days

Hi all, yesterday I bought a 5 gallon pail of Shell Rotella T 15W40 Triple Protection Oil.

I paid approx $60.00 US for this, I figure in the USA this would sell for around $40 to $50.

How much would this oil sell for in the States, at a regular price not on sale.

I like this oil as it is heavy duty, and in Canada still contains zinc, it does smell different than other oils, not sure why.

I use this oil in my 47, my lawn tractor, lawn mower, roto tiller, and Honda trail bike.......Fred

I did minor pricing and found a five-gallon bucket for $76.39. I'm sure a better price could be found without much pain, so I would surmise they are about the same in both countries.

believe the local Walmart had it for about 53.00 and change..thereabouts anyway...I do not use that brand so only noticed it in passing..

i've noticed oil seems to be around $3.00 a quart now. however, i bought a box of three gallon jugs delo 15-40 at sams club for about $31.00. the days of 50 cent a quart oil is gone.

I've switched to AutoZone brand oil in my jeep it's usually the cheapest and it has the API/SL rating. [which means it has the zinc additive unlike the SM rating]. The jeep is going thru some oil these days and the family budget has been downsized untill further notice.

i generally use the farm and fleet brand when it goes on sale for $1/qt. im gonna start using the autozone, though.

The Tractor Store here in Georgetown, Tx has it for $54.99 + 8.75% tax. So your $60.00 Us in Canada is not out of line on price.

Most of the stuff I own uses 10w30. A while back I considered buying a drum but at the prices I was getting I didn't see the savings.

found 'accel' sae 10w-40 'SF' for 1988 and earlier at walmart... think it was about $2.40 . wonder if it's any good?? note: the brand 'accel' doesn't look anything like the hi-po ignition brand.

What do you think Wallyworld Brand (Super Tech) or whatever they call it now is, re-refined at a Chicago plant, so it is recycled.....the Rock
