lugnut123
How do you remove the little door stopper .The part that keeps your door from opening to far? It looks like there is a small rivet holding one end. Do you drill the rivet and replace it later??

HanksB3B
worth a thousand words. The "Problema" door is where the door was damaged. The door stops are connected only to the door jamb of the cab. LEAVE THE TWO RIVETED METAL CLIPS IN THE DOOR ALONE. Once the door stops are removed from the cab, you just pull them back once you remove the cover plate (where you access the window regulator) attached with about 8 screws on the door itself. Will try to either find or take a few more pictures. Hank
lugnut123
I have the cover off the inside of the door. It looks like there is a rubber( hard plastic) bumper on the end of the flat door stopper rod. Can it be taken off? I have seen them door stops with cotter pins in them instead of a rivet. thanks Hank
HanksB3B
just pulls out Edited July 25, 2010 by HanksB3B
Dave72dt
i believe that's the end I took off to remove mine. might be a split rivet that needs to be pinched together to remove.
HanksB3B
Only the spring action of the clip is holding it in the door. Nothing has to be drilled or filed maybe just some WD40 and some gentle persuasion. Got it? Hank Edited July 25, 2010 by HanksB3B

pigheaded
HanksB3B, Do you have a picture of the bumper off? I am also at the point of grinding off the rivet. I would rather not have too if I can pull off the bumper. I have tried to remove it but I can't get it loose. Thanks, Jerry
lugnut123
it looks like you just lube up under the rubber and give it a solid pull.I got my rubber to move back and forth alittle bit without any lube so it should come off with a little cussin and pullin. I'll let you know in the morning.
Merle Coggins
Yes, as mentioned remove the rivit where the door check attaches to the A-pillar. When you reinstall the door you can reattach the door check to the cab A-pillar with a screw together type rivit. I found them at my local hardware store. They have a special name but I don't remember what it is. Merle
HanksB3B
the door check is supposed to be attached to the A-pillar bracket (thanks Merle) with a rivet. Mine was always fastened with a small nut and bolt. One type of screw-type rivet is a "screwpost". They are made of aluminum and used for binding hole-punched paper sheets. http://www.screwpost.com Maybe they are also made in steel as well and by your description, would look closer to original than my S.S. bolt and nylon lock nut which does work fine. Young Ed
This is what I used from the local hardware store.

Young Ed
They are in the bulk bins which are filled by hillman. I think they call them a screw post. I'm thinking they are just plain steel.
Fernando Mendes
Didn't know it was original.
