Thanks for your reply.

True, you don't need to post your make and model of car or your

location in relation to comments about a car show. And I did presume

you had some sort of old Mopar since you are here.:D

There's a town of Columbus (Kansas) about 25 miles from here.....for

all I could tell the GoodGuys were putting on a show there.

We get out and relax at local and area car shows along.......like this

one last month.

Please don't take any of my comments personal. First off I'm not a trophy hound I couldn't care less about sitting 6 to 8 hours for a $5.95 piece of plastic ! you can take your participant judged shows and so called expert judged shows and shove it as far as you can see thats what I see in your pictures with that thing you have on your hood I don't go to judged shows just a bunch of stuck up yahoos and I don't care for stock vehicles but thats me, don't get me wrong I do appreciate the craftsmanship of all cars and the work it took to get it their . I have been building Hot Rods and Drag Cars for the last 35 years and I know what it takes to build them . I drive my cars just about 5000 miles a summer no trailer thats what this hobby is about . So maybe this will give you why I'm here and what Im all about . :D

You may not be aware that you can post a picture of your car in your profile. Also you can edit your details in your user control panel to include your location as seen on every posting. By doing this it is easy to know a bit more about you.

Like you I am not a trophy hound. And my car has never been on a trailor. However I shy away from the goodguys shows for financial reasons. Follow this link for the cost to enter this event.

Interesting that there are several trophies given out at the goodguys events.

I seek out events that are free or cost very little to attend. I see goodguys charges spectators $18.00 just to view the cars and it would cost me $90.00 if I entered my car.

Rhinebeck NY had the Good Guys show at the Dutchess County fairgrounds a few weeks ago, I don't know what it cost to take a car, but the entry fee for onlookers was 18 dollars a head, now that is too darn expensive for my wallet.

My thoughts,

Tom, just to attempt to set the record straght, as it sounded just a

little personal, even if not the intent.

I don't enter shows with the intent to win trophies.....I paid my entry fee

which went to support local civic groups......parked the car and walked

around visiting with other entrants and looking at their cars. My wife was

working with one of the sponsoring organizations (to which we belong)

selling food and beverages.

The trophy was incidental. But it does make you feel good to know the judges, whoever

they were, liked what I've done with the car.

And - the car has never been trailered, is always driven as it really is

only a good driver, not a show car. I've owned it since 1973 and done

things along as I could afford and had time.

I see you have a strong automotive background and likely know much

more about cars than I. The good thing about the auto hobby is that

everyone can enjoy it in whatever manner they like.......

I like the good guys car show but a few years ago I got stuck for 35 dollars just to enter my car! I went over on a Saturday and thought well it won't cost much to enter but blame!!!!!!!!!! 35 dollars to show oft my car!!!!!!!!!! They said the pass was good for the next day but I was going home that evening and so I won't be back the next day! I would think they could charge a nice flat rate for each day and then get more cars to show oft but no they cant do and that don'ask me why? but they just can't. Oh yes Sundays show was about 15 dollars. I will never go to a good guy car show on Saturday again to display my car they are a rip oft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunday maybe?????

Typically the only show I pay to enter each year is back to the 50s. $30 bucks preregistered gets your car and 2 people in for the entire weekend. Not too bad for the second largest car show in the country.

Good Guys were in Loveland CO when I lived there, and I too thought the $18 spectator fee a bit excessive for a few hundred cars. I just spent some quality time with my P15 and took the wife out for dinner when she got home from work that evening. My wife told me that quite a few spectators and participants that stopped by her place of work were disappointed in that year's show. I choose to avoid the Good Guys show in Kansas City MO for the reasons mentioned above.

BTW, nothing wrong with letting people know which specific community one means. Except for Metropolis IL and Blooming Prairie MN, I am not aware of any community that does have a "sister" in an other state. State and province designations are always a big help when mentioning an event as this is an international forum.

I still chuckle when I remember the story the loading dock supervisor at Hormel in Austin MN told me a bout a lost trucker. He called asking for directions to the Hormel plant in Austin TEXAS. Supervisor told him, "Go north on I-35 ~1081 mi. go east on I-90 ~18 mi. and take exit #16. Can't miss it! See ya in 3 days!"

A very unhappy trucker in deed simply because his dispatcher failed to tell him MN, and he was too proud or arrogant to ask for clarification.

Going to Columbus this weekend for Good Guys. Not a very big show compared to Back to The 50s but probably the best quality cars at one event . Swap meet is excellent and tons of MFG vendors !!

I know what you are talking about.

Driving the Dodge to Louisville (Kentucky) for the SRN.

There's such a thing as being overrated, and that appears to be Don's opinion of Goodguys shows. A view that I tend to share. If ol' Norm was still alive he'd really let you know how he feels about Goodguys. LOL

Good luck and I hope you win your trophy. I must admit I am proud to not be a member of goodguys as I have now seen exactly how foolish the members are.

Actually I find Goodguys a pretty good deal. And I am not even ranting and raving. And yes, a paying member again after not renewing a couple of years ago.

I try to go at least one a year. The car corral always seem to have good deals if I had any cash to buy a car. And the swap meet/vendors are the most in numbers, and in variety I have seen anywhere else. If you enter your car for the entry fee, you save two fold opposed to paying your way in to see it. No parking, bring a date of your choice for free, and that's both days if you decide to go.

I don't see anything foolish in that whatsoever.

Everyone has a opinion, and that's mine :P

The Strangers Car Show I went to this past weekend cost 15 to show the car or $2 to enter. I don't think I saw one trailer queen.

Here in NorCal, (Pleasanton, CA, which I think is Goodguys Headquarters,) the Goodguys show offers more than just a car show inside. A huge car corral, a even bigger swap meet. Plus at least 4 buildings of theme vendors. It offers much more, if you are looking for that. Plus a monthly magazine is included in your membership.

I'm just sayin. Good points to join, and good points not too. It's all in your cup of tea,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
