Reg Evans Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I installed a 50 Chrysler engine in my 52 1/2 ton back in '98. Minor mods are necessary but nothing needed to the firewall. I welded some extensions on the bottom of the original front motor mount fee to reach back 2" to the mounting holes on the cross member. Moved the radiator forward 2" and had to take a nick out of the front cross member to clear the oil pan sump. And one of these days I'm going to install the Spitfire head and big truck factory manifolds. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) I installed a 265 Chrysler "Spitfire" engine in my 1952 PU in 1973. Had to move the radiator 2" forward on the yoke and used a Hot Wrench to reshape-not cut, the front of the frame where the front crank pulley assembly fits. You will also need a 1-1/2 ton or bigger truck oil pan and pickup With the dipstick in it-sump is in the front. Also the front frame rivited seam slightly hits the front of the pan sump-requires a slight bit of clearance rework there too. Edited April 20, 2010 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
