RobertKB Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Anyone beside me watching the "Great American Race"? If so, who are you pulling for to win? I was a big Earnhardt fan and I like Junior as well. Go 8! Quote
Young Ed Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I'm hoping for Kahne to do well. He got sent to the back of the pack with the other law breakers so we'll see what happens. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Jr. here also. I also like Mikey. Dennis;) Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I gotta go for Tony. I was born in Columbus, Indiana his home town. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 I don't want to hear any boo's but I like Gordon and Stewart, Stewart almost won it but crashed then I found myself rooting for Martin, Oh well. Tony C Quote
1947PLEVY Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Great Finish!!!! Too bad for Jr. and Stewart and a few more. Must of been a record of some kind to cross the finish line on your roof. Probably had to do a little cleaning afterward.... Too Bad for Martin... God Bless Us All......John Ennis 47Plevy Quote
Young Ed Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Sadly I missed the end of the race but I was happy to see Kahne got 7th. Not too shabby. Quote
RobertKB Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 Pretty good race in my opinion. Kinda hoping for Martin at the end but was not unhappy Harvick won. Loved seeing the one car cross the line on its roof. Pretty spectacular and I imagine we will see that shot many times in the future. I usually find NASCAR pretty boring these days but this was an entertaining race. Did go to Vegas eight years ago for the race and was impressed with that. Man, are those cars loud in person. Quote
Normspeed Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 First time in years I missed the whole race. I got wrapped up in a carb rebuild, exhaust work, steering box adjustment, test drive and spent all day outside doing that stuff. End results were worth the time spent. Did the Toyotas win anything? I'm afraid I have a problem with foreign marques in Nascar. Just doesn't fit the history. Good vehicles, but Nascar was built on moonrunners. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 As usual, we were rooting for our neighbor from across the street, Jamie McMurray. And, as usual, he was anywhere from second to 27th or so. Then he got in on the next to last pileup - so did not finish. However, he ended up in 31st place for the race. That slide across the finish line on the roof may have been a first. The Toyotas ended up in 23rd, 30th, 34th & 40th place. They had a couple name drivers--Dale Jarrett & Michael Waltrip in the group. A listing on MSN and other places. Quote
Johnny S Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Great finish.....I was pullin' for Martin. Although I "liked" his Viagra sponsored car better....nothing against the Army but all things considered ...Viagra wins.....It was was quite a sight seeing those two Chevy's side by side across the finish line. Don't think that won't make an ad somewhere promoting GM. Kind of fits in with our discussion about SBC's and such Big Three products in another thread. And where were those TOYota's in the Big Race? No where to be found......at least yet. Quote
Guest usedmind Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 RCR crossing the finish first and sliding across the finish on thier roof! I like how when Clint Bowyer got out of his car he just calmly took his gloves and helmet off and set them in the car. I did feel bad for Martin though he is an amazing driver. Quote
