I have 3-4 headlight knobs that all look quite decent but the little tab that is supposed to hold them onto the switch is broken. Anyone ever successfully drill a hole into their headlight switch and epoxy a replacement in there? I'm thinking I can turn it into a set screw knob like the heater controls. Would require drilling 2 holes.

Anyone have a heat knob that uses the set screw thats bad? I just need the metal core from it.

Thanks Don thats perfect for my project. PM sent. Now I'll have to see if its possible to drill a bigger hole in 60yo plastic.

Dons crusty knob arrived yesterday. For something that beat up the plastic sure didn't want to come off. I smushed it in the vice until it was square and it finally cracked! Now I have to try and figure out how to hold the "good" knob steadily so that I can try and drill it. Ideas? I tried a irwin clamp with the plastic jaws and it fell out of that. Also have to either drill out the threads in the metal piece or try and tap threads onto the headlight switch.

It was great I was just shocked that it didn't want to come apart! Before the vice I hit it with a hammer a few times and got nowhere. Thanks for mailing it up here.

My pleasure! Hope it works out for you.
