Young Ed Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 This came up in Freds thread about driving on the highways. Decided it should be on its own. I know a few of the guys on here will be there already. Mike from the truck side usually goes. Anyone else plan on it? I guarantee you won't be disapointed. Just under 12k cars last year. Preregister now until 4-29 for $30. Gets you your car and 1 other into the show for the entire weekend. Doubles after april. http://www.msra.com/BTT50s/2010/2010%20BTT50'sRegistration.pdf Quote

knighthawk Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I used to go there every year when I lived there, it has to the greatest car show ever ! Quote
1just4don Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Did you mean there are usually 12,000 cars that attend as car 'lookers',,,or 12,000 cars entered in the exhibit?? Either way thats alot of cars. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 12K cars registered. Others will be driving around outside. Registration is limited to 1964 and earlier so all the later cars cruise around outside the fair grounds. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 That's one I wanted to get to "one of these years". Maybe this is the year. It could be fun. I'll have to see how things plan out. Merle Quote
1just4don Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 thank for the reply,,,my goodness that is alot of iron to 'see'. Better question is---do I need to start conditioning now to walk far enough for all this?? How many acres would this many cover?? How many miles of walking is involved with seeing them?? Quote
Young Ed Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 The entire grounds is 320 acres. So lots of walking. Bring your vehicle walk some then go back and watch the cars on the move. Quote
DLK Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I have been there for about the last 10 years. Be prepared to see hundreds of55 and 57 Chevs. However if you walk most of the acreage you will see a significant number of MOPAR vehicles. The DeSoto club is well represented. What I like is you see not only trailer queens but plenty of work-in-progress and drivers too. Quote
Young Ed Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 Here's a little inspiration. My threads of pictures from past shows. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=10071&highlight=back+to+the+50s Quote
knighthawk Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 what amazed me was when there was about 8 or 9000 cars trying to get in to the fairgrounds the first day, they open the gates at 7 AM or something,, but the cars would start lining up about 5 AM, they had a lot of 'overheating' due to just idleing in place for a long time. There's no way you can see all the cars in one day ! We used to just sit by the gates and watch them going in and out ! And then cruisin down and back to University Ave ! Quote
Young Ed Posted February 11, 2010 Author Report Posted February 11, 2010 Cruising isnt as fun as I remember when I was little. They complain about too much pollution at univ and snelling. Yet they chase away anyone who parks along there in a spot thats supposed to be no parking. Hello cars dont pollute when parked! The cruising has moved almost entirely to snelling. Theres still one spot that the police seem to ignore and people do burnouts and show off. Quote
