Fernando Mendes Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Hello guys.Today I noticed that my engine "IND 251" has its dipstick not in the block, but in the oil pan(same side).Who knows about this? Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 You have an industrial engine that was meant to be used for a oilfield, factory, maybe as the powerplant for a generator. Since it was built someone put truck parts on it and made it a converted truck engine. Your oil dipstick will still read correctly as it was meant to be that way. Give us the serial number stamped on the pad by the distributor and someone here will decipher the year and type. Quote
greg g Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I have noticed over the years several vehicles with that dipstick location. Don't know the whys or the whear fors, but I can confirm the existance. Quote

bach4660 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 it gets really confusing now that all of the oil containers are 971 ml and not even one litre like they were a year ago. Quote
