JBNeal
That looks sharp...one of my thoughts was to use that bed-liner-in-a-can stuff applied to the cab floor under a floor mat I picked up from Roberts. As I understand it, this applied material has a rubberized texture to it, which could absorb noise & provide an insulation layer (albeit a thin one). But I'm thinking this would be a more expensive approach rather than what you've done with this setup, and the benefits would be negligible. DanOlson
Very nice. I'm going to go the same route when I get the motor back in. Dan
JBNeal
whut did ya do on the battery cover area? does that have a separate piece?
John-T-53
The insulation material under the rubber mat came as one big piece, but I cut it up to reflect the floor board seams underneath, including the battery door. That way, the sheet metal pieces can be removed individually if necessary, especially the battery one which is accessed regularly. All seams are taped with the foil tape except for the battery door. The rubber mat is not affixed, and lifting it for battery access is a piece of cake. I did it this way after reading Merle's detailed "interiors" thread that he wrote a while back. The credit goes to him. I followed his floor mat idea as well (thanks, man!!). http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=13189&highlight=interiors
Merle Coggins
I'm glad I did it that way. If I had glued the large pieces down as in the instructions I would have never been able to get into my battery or pull off the trans pan like I did this weekend when I removed my trans for a clutch job. I cut, glued, and taped each piece individually so that they can all be removed for future maintenance work. It was a fair amount of extra work, but it's worth it. I also noticed that the ridges on the bottom side of my mat are chewing up the foil on the insulation in the areas where my feet usually sit. I'm thinking of putting down a layer of duct tape over the insulation in those areas to reinforce it. Merle
